The stock market came with risks, and investments had to be made with caution.
In any profitable industry, people would naturally grow jealous. Everyone wanted to earn, and some people would end up as "leeks", waiting to be harvested.
Ellen stood to the side, seeming to catch on. "Wynter, do you mean that Havenia's stock market might have collapsed, and Havenia itself could have faced problems if it weren't for you this time?"
"Exactly." Wynter lifted her gaze slightly. "Foreign capital wants to control the stock market, so they'll throw out bait to lure you in. When Prosperity Holdings and Pacific Energy continue to rise, many won't be able to sit still and will eventually invest their money.
"Once the trap is ready, the money you put in will never come back. From that point, once all the hard-earned savings are wiped out, public sentiment will gradually rise."
Ellen's eyes widened. She had been in the stock market for many years, but she had never encountered something like what Wynter described. Still, she had no choice but to believe it.
After all, if it hadn't been for Wynter this time, they really would have followed the trend and bought into Prosperity Holdings and Pacific Energy and lost everything.
"Thank you." Ellen bowed slightly. "We really would have gone along with the crowd and bought into Prosperity Holdings and Pacific Energy if it weren't for you."
Before this, Ellen's opinion of the mainland had been rather dismissive, much like that of many citizens, but Wynter's words seemed to have woken her up.
"You're too kind, Ms. Mette." Wynter supported her with a hand. "Everyone has their own judgment, but they can also be misled by the words and actions of those around them. After all, very few people actually take trips to the mainland.
"As for those who constantly lead the charge in speaking ill of the mainland, they're either planted here by foreign forces, or just clueless fools."
Ellen nodded firmly, then suddenly thought of something. "Wynter, I remember someone nearby is hosting a Local Exchange Week. Why don't we take you there to share your perspective? And while we're at it, show us the real mainland!"
Wynter hadn't planned to go, but Ellen tugged her along as she spoke until she was pulled away.
As for Dalton, two elderly men were looking at him with open admiration.
"Mm… Not bad. He reminds me of my younger days!"
"Pfft! More like me in my younger days. Everyone knows you were as ugly as sin when you were young!"
"Alright, then. Let's have the young man here be the judge!"
Both of them turned to look at Dalton.
It was Dalton's first time encountering this kind of situation, and for a moment, he didn't know what to say.
"What do you mean?"
"Why are you not saying anything? Does that mean you think neither of us is any good?"
The two bantered back and forth, putting Dalton right on the spot.
Up ahead, Wynter was walking and chatting with Ellen and the others, while behind them, Dalton found himself unable to get a word in.
Finally, Dalton cleared his throat. "I think the two of you have a charm that not only matches that of your younger days but even surpasses it. You now have a presence that couldn't have existed when you were young."
"Now, that's what I like to hear."
"Did you hear that? He says we're the same. The next time I hear you telling someone he's more like you than me, I'll take it personally!"
An interesting soul could be found anywhere, regardless of age.
Walking along, the group soon arrived at a spacious venue.
Ellen pointed ahead. "Wynter, this is where the Local Exchange Week is being held."
