The Heiress’ Return: Six Brothers at Her Beck and Call (Wynter Quinnell) novel Chapter 2021

The night receded, and with it came the new day. At the airport, Wynter, Dalton, and Wolf lined up to check in for their outbound flight.

Because of the sensitive nature of their mission and the need to keep the hostages' identities a secret, Wynter and her team were traveling abroad as part of a tour group.

They traveled under the guise of ordinary tourists—a cover that perfectly matched the profile of those who often fell prey to overseas scams.

Her purpose this time was straightforward—while rescuing hostages, she would also act as bait to probe the fraud-ridden gray zones where law held no sway.

Dalton's refined looks made it impossible to pass him off as poor, so he could only disguise himself as a "rich buddy" tagging along.

Overseas scams often followed the same script—someone you trusted would tell you how easy it was to make money abroad. You would receive a monthly salary of over 30 thousand dollars, staying at poolside villas, adorning Tiffany jewelry, and driving Ferraris.

As ridiculous as it sounded, far too many fell for such obvious traps.

Even customs officers frequently issued warnings at departure gates, but people still went regardless.

The schemes were polished and calculated, welcoming you to enter the country through their bustling cities, with everything readily prepared for you to lower your guard. By the time you realized, you'd already stepped into hell.

What made Wynter pay attention to these cases was that scammers had started targeting children. More and more elementary schoolers, while doing homework, stumbled onto fraudulent links and were manipulated into revealing bank details.

Such incidents had landed many families in deep trouble, tearing them apart.

Wynter believed in punishing those who violated Cascadia's citizens, no matter how far they might be.

She had waited until now, holding back her hand. Timing mattered. She was waiting for those scammers to lower their guard, and then take them all down in one fell swoop. She understood criminals' psychology better than most.

Quiet crackdowns had already cut down some networks, but new groups were emerging again.

They might not have been able to squeeze information out of Charis, but the local thugs often spoke more than they realized.

During Freddy's interrogation, he'd admitted that the groups operated through chatrooms, casting wide nets and seeing who would bite.

So, Wynter and Wolf ran filters across countless online groups.

Today, someone sent a message in one of those groups. The victim was a young man who had just graduated from college.

"Rafael Crofton. He grew up in a single-parent family and attended a second-tier college. He has average grades, but is earnest enough. He's hungry to succeed, but beaten back again and again during internships."

At the airport, Wynter picked him out the moment their luggage was checked in.

All of them were traveling under a group visa. Rafael stood in the line, eyes bright with longing for a wider world. His Emstian was shaky, and his bank account was empty. However, group visas were easy to process, and some countries didn't even require one.

It was obvious that he was very excited.

Today, Wynter dressed differently than usual. She carried a fake Hermes bag, the kind you could tell at a glance was counterfeit. It was an image crafted to scream vanity and naivety, making her seem like the sort who would be easy prey.

Wolf trailed behind with a tiny rolling suitcase, decked out in loud street-punk fashion, peering around curiously.

When it was her turn to check in her luggage, Wynter deliberately fumbled her words with the flight attendant.

The "recruiter", Gaston Ralf, laughed and hurried over to smooth things out for her. He couldn't risk losing a fat sheep from the flock.

Wynter played along, pouting as she complained, "What's with all these procedures? Like I'd actually fall for a scam. Sheesh."

Her words, aimed at the people around them, served as a reminder.
