**TITLE: Broken by Destiny by George Orwell**
**Chapter 364: Are You Okay?**
Anderson’s brow furrowed deeply, a storm of concern swirling within him as he thought of Amelia.
“You know what she’s capable of,” he muttered under his breath, trying to convince himself. “She’s a total powerhouse. She’ll manage just fine.”
Yet, despite his words, unease gnawed at him.
“First, we need to find a safe place to hide,” he instructed Josie, his voice steady but laced with urgency. “Once things calm down, we can figure out how to get back to her.”
Earlier, before the chaos erupted, he had sent a message to Jeremy, hoping his friend would respond swiftly.
Amelia was still in the thick of it, throwing punches with a fierce determination, and Anderson had faith that Jeremy would arrive in no time.
But when Jeremy did show up, Anderson knew he would likely feel out of place, useless in the face of Amelia’s ferocity.
Jeremy would be the one to swoop in and rescue her in seconds, while Anderson would just stand there, paralyzed by the fear of getting in the way.
The thought of attempting to play the hero himself terrified him; he could imagine himself getting crushed under the weight of the situation.
“Damn, Jeremy is always so intimidating!” he thought, shaking his head at the absurdity of it all.
Josie, on the other hand, was oblivious to the chaos churning in Anderson’s mind.
She remained tense, her breaths shallow and rapid as she struggled to think clearly. They needed a plan, and they needed it fast.
Meanwhile, on Amelia’s side of the confrontation, the tide was beginning to turn.
Since Anderson had pulled Josie away, Amelia had shed her inhibitions and was fighting with an unrestrained ferocity.
With no one left to protect, she unleashed her full potential, fists flying as she took on the group of attackers with a newfound confidence.
The assailants had been cocky, believing that their numbers and skills would easily overpower a single girl.
Their leader, in particular, had often questioned the wisdom of their employer, wondering why so much money had been spent to capture just one young woman.
He had assumed the boss was simply wealthy and overly dramatic.
But now, witnessing Amelia’s transformation, he realized how wrong he had been.
She was a force of nature, dismantling their ranks as if they were mere obstacles in her path.
The shock on their faces was palpable; it was as if she had leveled up, becoming a warrior in an instant.
A couple of hitmen who had initially pursued Anderson and Josie returned, hoping to lend support, but even their combined efforts were no match for Amelia’s wrath.
Now, she had no clue about their location or how far Amelia was from them.
The transportation options were dismal, and the cell signal was practically non-existent, making navigation impossible.
It was just past nine o’clock, yet the town felt eerily deserted. The roads were shrouded in darkness, and they couldn’t even find a soul to ask for directions.
When they finally encountered a local, the accent was so thick that comprehension was out of the question.
Anderson broke the silence, his voice steady. “I have a rough idea of where we are, but it’d be difficult for Ms. Amelia to reach this spot tonight. What do you say we each find a place to stay and regroup tomorrow morning?”
His mind was still focused on the business at hand, having come to discuss the potential purchase of land for a resort. He knew the area well enough to navigate their way back.
It was getting late, and moving around would only complicate matters; finding a nearby motel seemed like the wisest choice.
But deeper down, there was another reason for his reluctance to venture near Amelia at that moment.
Jeremy was likely racing to her side, and if he discovered that Anderson hadn’t been of any assistance, he might very well take a swing at him.
The thought sent chills down his spine. Better to keep his distance.
“Alright then,” Josie agreed, her voice steadying. “Let’s meet tomorrow.”
