Chapter 473 A Promise on Hold
“Raymond, you’re finally here. I missed you so much, Regina said untly.
“What happened?” Raymond asked, “Why were you in such a rush today?
He looked calm and distant, but his voice was gentle and warm.
“I just missed you,” she replied,
“We see each other almost every day, he pointed out, “We agreed I’d go back tonight I need to show up at home,”
Lately, she had called him over almost every day. He hadn’t gone home in a long time.
To avoid making Emery suspicious, they had agreed not to meet for a couple of days. He was supposed to stay with his family.
“Don’t you miss me?” Regina asked. She lightly touched his lips with her finger.
“Of course I do. What is it? You want it?”
Raymond leaned in, clearly taking the hint, and reached to undo her clothes.
As expected, Regina stepped aside smoothly and avoided him.
I knew it.
The next second, she spoke again. “Raymond, I’m not an unreasonable woman. I only wanted to see you. I’ll let you go home after that.”
As she spoke, she moved close again, wrapping her arms around him, clinging to him sweetly, and kissing him several times.
While kissing him, Regina quietly slipped one of her earrings into his pocket.
“You really are clingy,” Raymond said with a laugh. “Maybe I just won’t go back tonight.”
“Didn’t you say you had to show your face?” she asked. “Aren’t you afraid she’ll get suspicious?”
“Whether she suspects or not, one more day won’t make much difference, Raymond said as he tried to lift
her up.
Regina stopped him. She pouted, half annoyed and half playful. “Then go tell her the truth. You promised you’d give me and our daughter a real place someday.”
“Yes, I said that,” Raymond replied. “But now isn’t the right time.
“Emery and I are legally married. If we split now, I’d lose half my assets. The company too. I might not have full control anymore.
“Just wait a little longer. When the timing is right, I’ll get her to transfer everything to me or the kids. Then we’ll separate.

“If more goes to Gianna, doesn’t that help both of us?”
Hearing the same explanation again, Regina felt her mood sink instantly.

If it weren’t for the fact that Raymond was useful inside and he was the only person who knew where that thing was, she would have stopped pretending long ago.
“All right,” Regina said with a soft smile. “I’ll keep waiting. Just don’t forget how much of my youth I’ve spent on you.”
Since she couldn’t fall out with him just yet, Regina could only keep saying the right, sweet words.
“Of course,” Raymond said quickly. “How could I ever let your youth go to waste?”
Both of them had their own thoughts. After putting on this little act, Regina let him leave.
She didn’t truly know what Raymond was thinking deep down. Raymond understood her intentions, but he couldn’t see through all of them.
Regina simply didn’t realize what he had in his mind.
They both hid their minds well. Neither could fully read the other.
Nygard Residence.
It was late at night. Emery sat alone in the living room, waiting for her husband to come home.
When Raymond finally came home, her eyes turned red at once. She looked wronged as she spoke.
“Why are you home so late? Didn’t you say you’d come home early today and have dinner with me?”
In the past, the children used to eat with her, so she didn’t feel too lonely.
But now they were grown. They had their own careers and friends. Except for the occasional weekend meal, they were rarely home.
Emery sometimes went to the estate, but she couldn’t stand it there. Bridget and Thea always accused her of treating Amelia badly.
“When you weren’t around, I went to the estate,” Emery complained. “Your mom and your sister kept saying I failed Amelia. It’s so annoying.”
Raymond paused, then said calmly, “You really should care more about Amelia. We do owe her. Ever since she came back, our attention has still been on Gianna.”
When it came to Amelia, Raymond genuinely felt guilty!
But work kept him busy, and he couldn’t handle everything at once.
On top of that, he had other responsibilities. He had no choice but to keep playing along with Regina and the people behind her.
Still, things were becoming harder to hide. Many truths would soon come to light.

“Why do you think that too?” Emery snapped. “Who knows if that rebellious girl didn’t run away on purpose? When we asked her, that girl refused to tell us anything!

“And don’t forget,” she added sharply, “if Gianna hadn’t stepped in back then and filled that empty place in our hearts, we might never have made it through that time at all.”

The readers' comments on the novel: The Heiress They Couldn't Break (Amelia and Jeremy)
I'm starting not to like Josie's character. If any man did all the things she's doing, they'd be considered creepy. This version of Josie is giving me the ick....
Does the novel ends in chapter 716 or is it still ongoing?...
Absolutely beautiful!...
Oh my! I really like Whitney (Jeremy's mum). She's so down to earth. She didn't even acknowledge Sabrina's presence....
I don't know what's with this new writer, but they are only making things worse. Gianna does in fact know how to ride a horse. She's had lessons and she even had a race with Amelia where she threw nails on the track to cheat. Gianna fell in the mud and was embarrassed when they pulled the cameras at a riding club owned by Jeremy....
Why did Cloudspire Estate change from a house to an apartment? Why is the writer acting like Jeremy does not own the property and he is not the one that allowed Amelia stay there? I hate when the writer does not remember what they wrote....
This is chapter 51 again when it should be chapter 52. Please fix for future readers....
New chapters please. If Amelia doesn’t end up with Jeremy I’m going to cry...
New chapters please....
