Chapter 486 A Polite Distance

To keep up her good image in front of Miguel, Gianna could only swallow the annoyance in her heart.
When he saw how happy she looked, Miguel smiled too. He patted her head and said warmly, “As long as you like it. From now on, every time I go on a business trip, I’ll bring you a gift.”
Gianna’s eyes lit up. She wrapped her arm around his again and said sweetly, “Really? I knew it! You treat me the best.”
But deep down, she was already thinking that next time, she should remind him to buy something more valuable.
Being held so tightly, Miguel suddenly remembered his mother’s warning. She told all her sons not to have too much physical contact with Gianna.
He also thought about his real sister. He realized he rarely bought her gifts but was always bringing things for Gianna. A faint sense of guilt stirred in his chest.
With that thought, he quickly pulled Gianna away and spoke seriously.
“Gianna, did you forget the rumors from before? If you have something to say, say it properly. Don’t pull or cling like this. It can cause misunderstandings.”
“There’s nothing going on between us, but if you don’t change this habit, someone with bad intentions could twist it again.”
Gianna froze for a moment after being pushed away. Then, her displeasure grew even stronger.
Her brothers had never treated her like this before. Those were just silly rumors spread by nobodies.
Why take them so seriously?
She was upset, but on the surface, she still nodded gently. “Okay, I understand.”
After that, she added casually, “Miguel, there’s an auction tomorrow. I want to go. Can you come with me?”
She said, “Come with me,” but what she really meant was paying the bill.
At every auction, anything she liked was paid for by someone else. She never had to open her own wallet.
This time would be no different.
“I’ve been really busy with work lately,” Miguel said. “I can’t go with you tomorrow. Why don’t you go with some friends?”
“But I want to go with family,” she said softly. “You’ve been traveling all the time and never have time for me. Can’t you come with me tomorrow?”
Of course she didn’t want to go with friends. Friends wouldn’t pay for her.
She had to go with her brothers.

Chapter 486 A Polite Distance
Just then, Maxwell walked in.

When Miguel saw him, he spoke up right away. “Maxwell, you should be free tomorrow, right? Why don’t you take Gianna to the auction?”
For wealthy families, buying a few items at art auction was nothing. The money barely mattered.
“Huh? Oh, sure,” Maxwell said after a brief pause. “I don’t really have anything to do tomorrow anyway.”
He had been bored at work lately.
Ever since Amelia left, the whole department has gone downhill fast. None of the artists were making waves
anymore.
On top of that, Maxwell had lost interest in managing it. Things only got worse.
“Maxwell can go with you,” Miguel said. “When I have more time later, I’ll take you somewhere else.”
Since Maxwell agreed, Miguel finally felt relieved.
He was busy, but if he really wanted to, he could still make time tomorrow.
And paying for one or two auction items wasn’t a problem for him at all.

But the real reason was simple. He just didn’t want to go to the auction with Gianna.
Lately, Miguel didn’t know what was wrong with him. Every time he treated Gianna well, it reminded him of how poorly he had treated his real sister.
Deep down, there was always a trace of guilt.
Especially now that Amelia was doing better and better. She shone wherever she went, confident and radiant.
That light made it impossible for him to ignore Amelia.
On top of that, whenever Vincent went out drinking with him, he always looked miserable.
He acted like a broken-hearted rich boy, full of regret over breaking up with Amelia. The miserable version of Vincent made Miguel feel worse.
Because, deep down, he regretted things too. When his sister/first came back, he never truly tried to fix their relationship.
Instead, he kept speaking up for Gianna and ignored his sister’s feelings.
Back then, he thought Amelia was being unreasonable. He believed she was always bullying Gianna, who was living under their roof.
Now, looking back, he realized something else. Maybe he had been a little too biased toward Gianna after
all.
“You guys really treat me the best,” Gianna said with a satisfied smile.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Heiress They Couldn't Break (Amelia and Jeremy)
I'm starting not to like Josie's character. If any man did all the things she's doing, they'd be considered creepy. This version of Josie is giving me the ick....
Does the novel ends in chapter 716 or is it still ongoing?...
Absolutely beautiful!...
Oh my! I really like Whitney (Jeremy's mum). She's so down to earth. She didn't even acknowledge Sabrina's presence....
I don't know what's with this new writer, but they are only making things worse. Gianna does in fact know how to ride a horse. She's had lessons and she even had a race with Amelia where she threw nails on the track to cheat. Gianna fell in the mud and was embarrassed when they pulled the cameras at a riding club owned by Jeremy....
Why did Cloudspire Estate change from a house to an apartment? Why is the writer acting like Jeremy does not own the property and he is not the one that allowed Amelia stay there? I hate when the writer does not remember what they wrote....
This is chapter 51 again when it should be chapter 52. Please fix for future readers....
New chapters please. If Amelia doesn’t end up with Jeremy I’m going to cry...
New chapters please....
