Chapter 516 Words That Kill the Heart
Those words struck straight at the heart.
Emery swayed where she lay, nearly rolling her eyes back and fainting on the
spot.
So Amelia had been abducted. And yet, as her mother, she had believed what others told her.
She had always assumed her daughter ran away from home, assumed she had gone astray.
Especially during those years when Amelia could not be found, and later when she returned and said nothing at all, Emery’s anger and misunderstanding had only deepened.
In fact, Amelia had denied leaving of her own will at the beginning. But when Emery pressed her for details, she had fallen silent.
That silence, that refusal to explain, made Emery believe her daughter had done something shameful and dared not speak of it.
Only now did she realize it was because Amelia had her reasons. Because she did not know how to explain it at all.
Perhaps Amelia did not even know who had taken her. Perhaps she was afraid no one would believe her if she spoke.
In the end, it was because Emery had not given enough love or care. That was why her daughter had not dared to speak, believing that even if she did, no one would trust her.
Tears welled up in Emery’s eyes again.
The guilt and debt she felt toward her daughter grew heavier, so heavy she could not even lift her head.
Her chest ached until she could barely breathe, the pain so intense it felt suffocating.
But the torment was not over. That demonic voice sounded again above her head.
“Oh, right. You probably don’t know this while you’re in the hospital. Your precious Miguel collapsed a few days ago too. He’s lying in a hospital bed as well.”
“What did you say?” Emery’s heart lurched violently.
“They say it’s heart failure. He’ll probably die before you do. How pitiful. Imagine a parent having to bu their own child.”
“No. That’s impossible. Impossible. No one told me. You must be lying.”
“Tsk. Why would I lie to you? Go ask yourself. He’s right upstairs. Probably already transferred to the ICU.
“Why did you even bother having so many children? Your husband belongs to someone else, and your children are busy tearing each other apart.
“Emery, you failed as a wife. You failed as a mother. Even as a person, you’ve achieved nothing.

“If it were me, I’d bite my tongue and kill myself. No point staying alive just to embarrass yourself.”
Sentence after sentence, words steeped in poison, crashed down on her, leaving Emery no room to respond.
And it was not over yet. Regina tossed out one final, lethal line, cruel and bloody.
“Oh, by the way, your good son is about to die. Want to know why he suddenly ended up like this?”
She leaned down and whispered into Emery’s ear. “That’s because I did it. I’ve been giving him slow-acting poison for almost a year.”
That final blow was more than Emery could bear.
A mouthful of blood surged up from her throat. She collapsed back onto the bed, her body convulsing violently.
Regina stepped back quickly, disgusted. “What a useless thing. Just a few words and you’re already coughing up blood and dying?
“Hah. There’s really no challenge at all.”
With that, she turned and walked away, her steps light with victory.
No one knew how much time passe@before the nurses and private attendants who had been sent away returned from their tasks and found Emery foaming at the mouth, her body in convulsions.
Terrified, they immediately notified the doctor. Emergency measures followed in rapid succession, and then the family was contacted.
The Nygard brothers, Raymond, and even Gianna rushed over.
“Sigh. The patient has been stimulated again. This time it was quite severe. Her condition had been under control, but it has worsened again.
“She can no longer move her body and has even lost the ability to speak. I’m afraid…”
The attending physician did not finish the sentence, but everyone understood what it meant.
“No, Doctor. Please save my wife. Money is not an issue.”
“Yes. The Nygards have money. Name your price. You must save her.”
Raymond and the Nygard brothers were frantic. With their closest family members falling one after another, the suffocating pressure was unbearable.
“This is not about money,” the doctor said with a sigh. “We will do our best.
“Her life should not be in immediate danger, but if the rigidity continues and she even loses the ability to eat, then it will truly become a countdown.”
The doctor’s words were simple. If the condition could not be controlled, it would become a countdown to death.
The air grew heavy.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Heiress They Couldn't Break (Amelia and Jeremy)
I'm starting not to like Josie's character. If any man did all the things she's doing, they'd be considered creepy. This version of Josie is giving me the ick....
Does the novel ends in chapter 716 or is it still ongoing?...
Absolutely beautiful!...
Oh my! I really like Whitney (Jeremy's mum). She's so down to earth. She didn't even acknowledge Sabrina's presence....
I don't know what's with this new writer, but they are only making things worse. Gianna does in fact know how to ride a horse. She's had lessons and she even had a race with Amelia where she threw nails on the track to cheat. Gianna fell in the mud and was embarrassed when they pulled the cameras at a riding club owned by Jeremy....
Why did Cloudspire Estate change from a house to an apartment? Why is the writer acting like Jeremy does not own the property and he is not the one that allowed Amelia stay there? I hate when the writer does not remember what they wrote....
This is chapter 51 again when it should be chapter 52. Please fix for future readers....
New chapters please. If Amelia doesn’t end up with Jeremy I’m going to cry...
New chapters please....
