The Heiress They Couldn't Break (Amelia and Jeremy) novel Chapter 619

Chapter 619 Selective Amnesia

Even if it was just out of consideration for the Carters and their long-standing relationship.

After pulling her thoughts back together, Amelia stretched deeply and decided to step out for a walk.

She had been sitting for most of the day and felt like her legs were going numb.

She was about to head to Josie’s office when she spotted that girl sneaking around outside Harrison’s office, peeking through the glass.

There she went again, acting lovestruck.

Amelia rubbed her forehead helplessly, then quietly walked up behind her and suddenly said, “Hey.”

Josie jumped so hard her whole body shook. Her phone slipped from her hand and hit the floor with a sharp clack, nearly cracking the screen.

Clutching her chest, she turned around and saw Amelia. She lowered her voice, half angry and half startled. “Amelia! You scared me to death!”

‘What are you doing here?” Amelia raised an eyebrow and glanced meaningfully at Harrison’s closed office door. “Another ‘accidental’ run-in with your Mr. Ramley?”

Josie was not embarrassed at all. She grinned mischievously. “I’m not pretending to run into him. I’m spying on him.”

She pointed excitedly at the floor-to-ceiling window. “Look at that jerk. He didn’t even close all the blinds. Isn’t that basically inviting me to watch him?”

‘Or maybe he just didn’t feel like closing the blinds, and it has nothing to do with you,” Amelia corrected gently, trying to tone down her friend’s overconfidence.

‘No way. I’m the only one in the office next to him.”

Josie twirled a strand of hair and said shyly, “I think he wants me to make the first move.”

“Sure. Whatever you say,” Amelia replied dryly.

“Obviously!” Josie pouted. “I don’t know why, but the first time I saw that jerk, he felt familiar. I swear I’ve seen him somewhere before. Maybe I lost part of my memory and forgot him, and now we’ve met again. Remember when I lost a chunk of memory when I was overseas? What if that missing piece was about him? No, it must have been selective amnesia. It had to be because of love. Because of a man!”

The more Josie talked, the more dramatic she became. “Stop, stop, stop,” Amelia cut in quickly.

“You didn’t have selective amnesia. You had a high fever for days after catching that virus, and now you’re perfectly fine. You haven’t forgotten anyone. And stop watching so many brainless soap operas. You’re starting to lose touch with reality.”

Amelia grabbed her by the arms and shook her gently.

She hoped to snap her back to the real world before she fully cast herself as the heroine of some dramatic

love story.

Josie did not have many refined hobbies. Guilty pleasures, on the other hand, she had plenty.

Binge-watching shows and obsessing over handsome men were at the top of the list.

Modern dramas, historical dramas, fantasy shows. Once she started, she could stay up all night.

Sometimes Amelia even felt a little envious of her carefree, drama-filled life.

As she shook Josic, she sighed inwardly. This girl’s brain always worked in the most unexpected ways.

Other people watched shows for entertainment. Josie watched them and immediately cast herself as the leading lady, complete with dramatic plot twists.

‘Okay, okay. That was inappropriate of me. My bad,” Josie said awkwardly, scratching her head.

‘By the way, why were you looking for me?” she asked.

‘To grab lunch together. What else?” Amelia replied.

What did she think, that Amelia came to talk about love or chase guys with her?

Of course. Let me check if Harrison is free to join us,” Josie said, suddenly acting like she had found the perfect excuse.

She dashed into his office like an arrow released from a bow.

Today she was wearing a fitted dress that showed off her figure, and she had already strutted past him a few imes earlier.

Apparently, he had not noticed.

Now she finally had a legitimate reason to step inside his office and walk around openly.

osie knocked lightly on Harrison’s door. Without waiting for a response, she turned the handle and leaned halfway in, her smile overly sweet.

Mr. Ramley, are you busy?”

Harrison was looking down at documents. When he heard her voice, he looked up and saw her graceful igure stepping inside.

What is it?” he asked.

Instead of answering, she walked in a slow circle in front of his desk.

Fortunately, his office was large enough. Otherwise there would not have been room for her performance.

‘Guess,” Josie said with a playful smile, batting her eyes at him.

‘Did you want me to watch you do a runway walk?” Harrison replied with a faint smirk. “If you don’t have
