At this hour, Nydia had already drifted back into an exhausted sleep.
"Ms. Amelia, you're here. Ms. Nydia is already resting," one of the Jordans' maids said politely.
Although Nydia was married, everyone in the Jordans still habitually called her "Ms. Nydia," as if that made her feel closer to home.
Passing along the message Nydia had given her, the maid turned to Amelia again.
"The doctor has already run a full workup on Ms. Nydia and prescribed targeted treatment. There shouldn't be any more problems.
"He also said that thanks to the antidote pill you gave her later, her life was saved. Otherwise, even if they pulled her back from the brink, she might've been left with permanent complications. He asked me to thank you."
"Mhm. As long as Nydia is okay, that's all that matters," Amelia answered, not making a big deal out of it.
As long as she was safe, the rest could wait until she was fully recovered.
The fact that the maid had come over to thank her instead of Sabrina told Amelia exactly where the woman stood.
After all, when Nydia first collapsed, Sabrina had also shoved a pill between her lips.
Amelia could guess that the so-called "antidote" hadn't been a real cure at all—just a way to stall for time.
Nydia was no fool. Once she traced the whole sequence back, she'd definitely notice something off.
Clearly, someone had genuinely wanted Nydia dead and had planned to dump the whole mess on Amelia's head when it was over.
Amelia's eyes cooled, her fingertips absently rubbing at the cuff of her sleeve.
She could already see the play—the person behind this was counting on Nydia comparing the two pills after she woke up and realizing Sabrina's "detox pill" had done nothing, or worse, had worsened the poison.
Meanwhile, because of the timing and Sabrina's "first aid," the real antidote Amelia gave later would be twisted by certain people into "belated damage control," or even "trying to cover up her own crime."
"Ms. Amelia, are you ... are you alright?" the maid asked carefully when she noticed Amelia's expression shift.
Amelia pulled herself from her thoughts and shook her head lightly. "I'm fine. Just ... please keep a close eye on Nydia for me."
She paused, then added, "Especially when it comes to her meals and medication. Make sure there are no more mistakes."
"Rest assured, we'll be on high alert," the maid promised quickly.
Amelia didn't say anything more, and Jeremy stayed silent as well. The two of them turned and left the room together.
Once she walked out of the hospital, Amelia didn't head straight home.
Instead, she went to meet someone.
"The person who kept calling me from unknown numbers to feed me information—that was you?"
She looked at the man in front of her. It came out as a question, but in her heart, she already knew the answer.
Staring at his familiar face, she couldn't help feeling conflicted.
It was Elian.
"What are you trying to say?" Amelia could tell there was more beneath the surface.
So, she didn't press, didn't fill the silence—she just waited him out.
"I'm Mr. Nygard's mole. He's always known I was planted at Regina's side. He was the one who set the whole thing up and had me get close to her.
"It was the only way to get accurate, real-time intelligence on her and her associates.
"The reason I didn't reveal myself earlier was so I could keep feeding you information from the inside."
With those words, everything snapped into focus for Amelia.
This man was a double agent.
He was actually her father's most trusted plant.
This reversal was so complete that even with her sharp intuition, she hadn't seen it coming.
"I didn't expect you to be carrying a role like that. You've been through a lot," she said, honestly moved.
She'd always thought her father didn't have much up his sleeve and that the people around him were nothing special.
Turned out they were the ones keeping their cards close, and she'd been the one living with blinders on.
"Now that you've told me all this, you've probably tipped them off, haven't you?"

The readers' comments on the novel: The Heiress They Couldn't Break (Amelia and Jeremy)
I'm starting not to like Josie's character. If any man did all the things she's doing, they'd be considered creepy. This version of Josie is giving me the ick....
Does the novel ends in chapter 716 or is it still ongoing?...
Absolutely beautiful!...
Oh my! I really like Whitney (Jeremy's mum). She's so down to earth. She didn't even acknowledge Sabrina's presence....
I don't know what's with this new writer, but they are only making things worse. Gianna does in fact know how to ride a horse. She's had lessons and she even had a race with Amelia where she threw nails on the track to cheat. Gianna fell in the mud and was embarrassed when they pulled the cameras at a riding club owned by Jeremy....
Why did Cloudspire Estate change from a house to an apartment? Why is the writer acting like Jeremy does not own the property and he is not the one that allowed Amelia stay there? I hate when the writer does not remember what they wrote....
This is chapter 51 again when it should be chapter 52. Please fix for future readers....
New chapters please. If Amelia doesn’t end up with Jeremy I’m going to cry...
