"Quit filling your head with useless thoughts all day."
"No can do. If a man never thinks about this, he's basically done for. And," Jeremy corrected her, "this workout is actually very beneficial.
"It doesn't just strengthen our bond; it regulates endocrine levels and releases dopamine. It makes the skin smooth and delicate."
To put it bluntly, with the nourishment of both soul and body, she would undoubtedly be the happiest woman in the world.
Amelia was speechless.
How could this man spin something so shameless and make it sound almost wholesome?
Jeremy was still pondering how best to tease her next when she suddenly shot upright.
The abrupt movement knocked him—who'd been happily "nibbling" at her—right off balance.
"What's wrong?" he blurted, instantly tense.
Had he gotten carried away without realizing it and made her mad?
Just as he was about to stumble through an explanation, she blurted, "I figured it out!"
Jeremy lit up. "Really? You've figured out that you want to do the 'workout' with me?"
As he spoke, he immediately tried to press her back down onto the bed.
A second later, Amelia's foot connected with his side and kicked him clean off the bed. "Figure out your ass," she snapped.
"I figured out what hint my dad left me."
She jumped off the bed, grabbed the journal her father had left her, and sat down with it.
Then, she flipped it open and began scanning the pages with intense focus.
"No wonder every time I read these few pages, something felt off. So that's what it was."
"What is it?" Jeremy still wasn't following.
"If you take the seventh word from the end of each line and pull them out, they string together into a brand-new message.
"And that message is what my dad really wanted to tell me."
Excitement lit up her face.
No wonder he kept writing these same paragraphs over and over again.
Everyone—including her—had just assumed they were a few events he was unusually sentimental about.
Now that the idea had clicked and she'd connected the dots, everything snapped into place.
"Why the seventh word from the end?" Jeremy asked.
"That's my lucky number. Turns out Dad remembered." Amelia's voice softened.
Jeremy was stunned.
With a clue that subtle and roundabout, probably only Amelia would ever have a shot at cracking it.
It was so hidden that Regina and her cronies could have stared at it until their heads exploded and they still wouldn't have found it.
What does she mean, great service?
What kind of wild brain circuits does she have? She solved it like that?
He must have figured that if she could crack the code, she'd go get it; if she couldn't, the secret would stay buried forever.
Maybe that was his way of protecting her.
But Amelia's goal had never been clearer—she was going to keep digging until she dragged the mastermind into the light.
The person who killed her father was not walking away.
"Do you want to go now?" Jeremy asked.
"Yeah. The longer we wait, the more chances for something to go wrong."
"Then, I'm coming with you," he said, dropping a gentle kiss on her lips.
He knew if they didn't retrieve that thing tonight, there was no way this girl would sleep.
And since it was already the dead of night, slipping out now would attract the least attention.
The villa in question was the seaside place the Nygards used to vacation at when she was a kid, a good two to three hours' drive away.
Specifically, it was the seaside villa where the Nygards of six had spent their happiest, most golden memories before she went missing.
Gianna had never set foot there, and Regina didn't even know it existed.
After Amelia disappeared back then, Raymond and Emery had never gone back.
Seeing how their parents avoided mentioning the place or planning any more trips, the Nygard brothers had understood why and tactfully kept quiet.
The car cruised smoothly down the midnight highway, neon lights outside the windows streaming past like shooting stars plunging into the dark.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Heiress They Couldn't Break (Amelia and Jeremy)
I'm starting not to like Josie's character. If any man did all the things she's doing, they'd be considered creepy. This version of Josie is giving me the ick....
Does the novel ends in chapter 716 or is it still ongoing?...
Absolutely beautiful!...
Oh my! I really like Whitney (Jeremy's mum). She's so down to earth. She didn't even acknowledge Sabrina's presence....
I don't know what's with this new writer, but they are only making things worse. Gianna does in fact know how to ride a horse. She's had lessons and she even had a race with Amelia where she threw nails on the track to cheat. Gianna fell in the mud and was embarrassed when they pulled the cameras at a riding club owned by Jeremy....
Why did Cloudspire Estate change from a house to an apartment? Why is the writer acting like Jeremy does not own the property and he is not the one that allowed Amelia stay there? I hate when the writer does not remember what they wrote....
This is chapter 51 again when it should be chapter 52. Please fix for future readers....
New chapters please. If Amelia doesn’t end up with Jeremy I’m going to cry...
