The Heiress They Couldn't Break (Amelia and Jeremy) novel Chapter 649

Chapter 649 Real or Fake?

No matter what, she had to come by in person.

Maybe it was because the fiasco at the gala was still hanging over everyone’s heads, but when Amelia arrived at the Jordan Estate this time, neither Brielle nor Sabrina was anywhere to be

seen.

Especially Sabrina-after pulling such a spectacular stunt and targeting her family no less, there was no way she had the face to come home right away.

The Jordans didn’t seem to be pressing the issue either. At the end of the day, Sabrina was still one of their own.

And so,

the whole thing… seemed to just quietly fade into the background.

“Amelia, you’re here. Forget Floyd, even I’ve been missing you,” Nydia said, eyes lighting up the moment she saw her.

“Of course, I had to come see you. Letting something like that happen at my birthday party still feel awful about it.”

She spoke straight from the heart as she carefully gave Nydia a full checkup from head to toe.

“It wasn’t your fault. I just never thought Sabrina would …”

Halfway through, her brows knit tight, and the gentle warmth in her expression sharpened into something far more cutting.

She wasn’t going to delve into why her niece had done what she did or how she’d turned into this version of herself.

But the questions in her heart had only gotten louder.

“To be honest with you, I feel like Sabrina’s been getting less and less like the girl I used to know,” Nydia admitted, lowering her voice as if confiding in one of her own.

Maybe it was because she already saw Amelia as family, but once she started, she couldn’t stop.

Ever since Sabrina’s parents passed away, it was like she’d slowly become someone else.

On the surface, her habits and social graces all seemed more or less the same. But as her aunt- someone who’d spent a lot of time with her-Nydia couldn’t help picking up on the subtle changes.

Even after getting married and moving out, she still came back often. Her bond with her family

had always been strong.

And after Paul and his wife died, she practically lived at the Jordans’ place, trying to look after and accompany Sabrina and Floyd Jordan as much as she could.

That was when she started noticing the shift in those two kids.

Sabrina’s change was hard to describe.

It was like she was the same person, yet not.

Just… different. But when it came to explaining it, the words wouldn’t come.

The one who changed the most, though, was her little nephew Floyd.

When he was small, he’d been bright, cheerful, and impossibly lovable.

But not long after his parents passed, he grew more and more volatile and skittish, until he finally retreated into himself completely.

It was strange for a child too young to truly process grief to be so severely affected.

So they poured all their attention into Sabrina instead, hovering around her, comforting her, terrified she’d fall apart under the grief.

Yet the reality turned out to be the opposite. Sabrina’s emotions remained stable. It was Floyd who became a completely different person.

His personality flipped, and his health went downhill with it. The illnesses he developed were rare and strange, and no matter how many doctors they threw at the problem, no one could give them a clear answer.

“I don’t know if it’s because we moved them out of that villa, but that’s when they started changing,” Nydia murmured, almost to herself.

“That villa?”

Amelia had been about to say something else, but that line snapped her attention back, curiosity instantly piqued.

“Mm. Back when Paul was still alive, the four of them lived in a villa under his name. After he and his wife passed, my mother brought the kids back here to the old estate.

“Maybe they weren’t used to living here at first, but by now, they should be.”

Both Nydia and Cora had felt that moving the children back here was the better choice.

If they kept living in a house filled with memories of their parents, they were afraid the constant reminders would drag the kids even deeper into grief.

There’s something fishy about that villa.

As Nydia rambled on, something clicked in Amelia’s mind.

Maybe Elian was right to suspect that the “Sabrina” standing in front of them now wasn’t the real one. Maybe the real Sabrina was still tied to that villa somehow.

Looked like she was going to have to send someone to dig into that property-carefully.

“Nydia, do you usually go for regular health checkups?”

Amelia shifted gears, tucking that thought away for later.
