The Heiress They Couldn't Break (Amelia and Jeremy) novel Chapter 661

Chapter 661 A Headline in Red

Finished

Of course. The moment Diana called, she went straight to end the engagement, not even bothering with a fake greeting.

“What’s wrong?” Gianna tried to keep her voice steady. “Mrs. Dester, why would you say that?”

Diana gave a cold laugh. “What’s wrong? Don’t play dumb. You really have no idea?”

Gianna assumed that Diana meant the Jordans still hadn’t taken her back. The thought alone made her chest tighten.

“Mrs. Dester, it’s not that I don’t want to go back to the Jordans,” she said quickly. “It’s a big deal. It has to be done properly. We need to pick an auspicious day. Just wait a little longer.”

She couldn’t let herself get dumped while she was already at her lowest. If she was rejected now, everyone would think she had lost her value and wasn’t worth keeping. It would be humiliating.

So she scrambled for an excuse-anything to buy time.

Diana’s disgust came through like poison. “The Jordans would never acknowledge a disgrace like you. I regret letting Vincent get engaged to you. This engagement is over. As for your mess, go look online. It’s revolting.”

Then she hung up.

It was true that Vincent had already had two engagements fall apart, which wasn’t great for his reputation.

However, compared to marrying a woman of no value, that little setback was insignificant.

A man with money, power, and status didn’t worry about finding a wife.

Gianna stared at the dead line, stunned. Then, sharp and immediate, dread crept in.

She opened her browser with shaking fingers. The moment she clicked on the entertainment feed, a bold, red headline stabbed her in the eyes:

‘BREAKING SCANDAL Former Nygard Heiress Gianna’s Wild Private Life Exposed! Spotted Late Night with Multiple Men at a Hotel!”

Below it were photos, blurry and taken from unflattering angles, but clear enough to make out her profile.

In the pictures, men surrounded her. Some were tall and some were short and heavy. The cameras had caught them leaning close to her, talking into her ear and putting their hands on her waist. One photo showed someone kissing her on the street.

She didn’t remember any of it. Her mind had gone blank.

A cold rush traveled from her feet to the top of her head.

Her hand shook as she scrolled. The comment section was already ablaze with ugly speculation and insults pouring in like floodwater.

[I always knew Gianna was trash. Multiple guys at once? That’s disgusting.]

[And they went into a hotel together. You know what that means. She’s shameless.]

[Doesn’t she have a fiancé? She was engaged to the Dester heir years ago. And she still does this?]

[Call it off. He has to call it off. If it were me, I’d dump her instantly.]

[Give it a week. The Desters will announce the breakup.]

Each comment landed like a needle.

So Diana hadn’t been talking about the Jordans at all. She’d been talking about this.

Someone had set her up. They weren’t just trying to embarrass her. They wanted to destroy her and force the Dester family to end the engagement publicly.

Gianna finally understood Diana’s certainty and contempt. She understood why Diana sounded like the decision was already made. Gianna was finished.

The timing was too perfect, the photos too convenient, and the outrage too neatly triggered. This wasn’t random. It was planned.

Who? Who would do this to her?

Could it be Amelia?

It had to be her. She must’ve held a grudge against Gianna for everything she had done, and now she was getting revenge in the most disgusting way possible.

“Amelia!” Gianna shrieked into the empty room, pacing like a trapped animal. “Aren’t you always so proud, acting like you’re above cheap tricks? And now you do this?”

She was still shaking with rage when her phone rang again. It was an unknown number.

She answered, and a woman’s voice came through first, bright with malice. “Gianna. How was last night? Fun? Exciting?”

“Who are you?” Gianna screamed. “You did this, didn’t you?”

“Yes,” the woman said, laughing. “I did. And don’t pretend you don’t know who I am. Look at you now. I’ve hated you for a long time. You don’t have anyone backing you up anymore. What are you going to do

now?

“Do you know how many people you offended when you were on top? Everyone has been waiting to watch you fall. Now that you have, of course, we had to repay you. Ha.”

The laughter was wild and satisfying. Then the call ended.

Gianna’s legs gave out. She dropped to the floor. She recognized that voice. It was Madeline Ross.

She was a lady from a minor family that Gianna had spent years humiliating and mocking behind her
