If this had been the old Amelia, she would have questioned whether Raymond had made a mistake—or worse, whether he had deliberately tried to mislead her.
But the woman she was now chose to trust her father completely. She believed, without a shred of doubt, that he would never lie to her.
Especially not at a moment like that, right before his death.
Still, seeing the name written in that message, Amelia was genuinely stunned. She had never once imagined it could be him.
No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't reconcile that man—who always wore a gentle smile and spoke with polished elegance—with the mastermind who had orchestrated everything and, ultimately, taken her father's life so ruthlessly.
Her fingers trembled slightly as she looked at the name again. Each letter felt like a shard of ice driving straight into her heart.
She began replaying countless moments from the past—glances, comments, subtle details she had once brushed aside.
Now they reassembled in her mind like fragments of a shattered mirror, forming a truth so chilling it made her skin crawl.
So the most dangerous enemy had been hiding in plain sight all along, cloaked in a mask of kindness while harboring venom underneath.
"It's actually him…" Jeremy frowned when he saw the name too, his expression turning grave.
"What do we do now?" Amelia felt uncertain for the first time.
If he was really the one behind everything, she didn't even know where to begin.
But at the same time, it made a twisted kind of sense. With that man's network and influence, he absolutely had the ability to manipulate it all—to control a massive, shadowy organization from behind the scenes.
"For now, we don't alert him," Jeremy said calmly. "Instead, we draw the snake out of its hole and take it down in one clean sweep."
He knew Amelia might hesitate. So he would handle it.
He could be her loyal, obedient big dog when she needed comfort. And he could also be the sharpest blade in her hand when she needed someone cut down.
Then Jeremy leaned close and whispered his plan into her ear, outlining each step in a low voice.
If they executed it properly, they would definitely get results.
And when that happened, this would finally come to an end.
After hearing him out, Amelia had to admit the plan was solid. She gave him a thumbs-up. "Not bad. You're pretty scheming, huh."
"Of course," he replied with a grin. "Otherwise, how would I dare stand by your side?"
The corner of Amelia's mouth twitched as she looked at him smiling like that, unsure whether that counted as praise or self-roasting.
"I'm complimenting you," Jeremy added, clearly reading her expression.
Now that they finally had a lead, his own tension eased a little too.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Heiress They Couldn't Break (Amelia and Jeremy)
I'm starting not to like Josie's character. If any man did all the things she's doing, they'd be considered creepy. This version of Josie is giving me the ick....
Does the novel ends in chapter 716 or is it still ongoing?...
Absolutely beautiful!...
Oh my! I really like Whitney (Jeremy's mum). She's so down to earth. She didn't even acknowledge Sabrina's presence....
I don't know what's with this new writer, but they are only making things worse. Gianna does in fact know how to ride a horse. She's had lessons and she even had a race with Amelia where she threw nails on the track to cheat. Gianna fell in the mud and was embarrassed when they pulled the cameras at a riding club owned by Jeremy....
Why did Cloudspire Estate change from a house to an apartment? Why is the writer acting like Jeremy does not own the property and he is not the one that allowed Amelia stay there? I hate when the writer does not remember what they wrote....
This is chapter 51 again when it should be chapter 52. Please fix for future readers....
New chapters please. If Amelia doesn’t end up with Jeremy I’m going to cry...
