Wade had finally listened to Leigh. Their family was content to stay quiet and live comfortably off their existing wealth, which was more than enough to last a lifetime.
In a way, Maclin had been the smartest of them all, choosing to forgo the power struggle and remain loyal to Jeremy. His relationship with Jeremy was thriving, and he was arguably doing better than Wade ever had.
With the downfall of Truman and Esmond, Wade was more than happy to stay in line.
He was still haunted by how close he had come to the fire. He'd known just enough to be Esmond's pawn, but fortunately, he hadn't been privy to the core projects or used as a test subject. If he had, he'd be facing a much darker end.
In the wake of everything that had happened, Wade became even more settled. Any lingering doubts or divided loyalties vanished, replaced by a quiet, unwavering commitment.
Seeing Wade's genuine change of heart, Jeremy treated him with the respect due to a family member. Bridget was equally relieved to see the Currans finally united and her grandsons settling down with wives of their own.
The atmosphere at the dinner table was festive. The elders couldn't stop smiling as they watched Jeremy meticulously care for Amelia, peeling her shrimp and filling her plate with his usual quiet devotion. They soon joined in, piling even more food onto her plate.
"Eat up, Amelia," they urged. "You're such a beautiful girl, but you're far too thin. You need to build your strength."
Wade and Thea played the part of the gracious hosts, their warmth setting the tone for the evening. The sharp edges and lingering tensions of the past had finally smoothed over, replaced by a comfortable, shared peace.
"Are you feeling alright? You've looked a bit pale these last few days. Is the lab work getting to be too much?"
"You look exhausted," Whitney added. "Don't let the work run you into the ground."
Emery and Marcelo watched Amelia with such blatant concern it was as if they wanted to bubble-wrap her and oversee her every move.
Amelia offered a calm, reassuring smile. "I'm fine, really. I'm a doctor, remember? I know how to listen to my own body."
Seeing the anxious, fretful looks they were giving her, Amelia remained perfectly composed as she moved to reassure the elders.
She truly believed she was just tired. Jeremy had been away on business, and she'd spent her solo hours buried in pharmaceutical research. She assumed the lethargy and the constant need for sleep were simply the price of her long hours.
Amelia picked up her fork and took a bite of the fish Jeremy had carefully deboned for her. She chewed slowly, offering a warm smile to put everyone at ease, but the moment the food touched her palate, something went wrong. A sharp, fishy scent that she had never noticed before triggered a violent wave of nausea.
The fish was perfectly fresh, a premium catch she usually enjoyed without a second thought.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Heiress They Couldn't Break (Amelia and Jeremy)
I'm starting not to like Josie's character. If any man did all the things she's doing, they'd be considered creepy. This version of Josie is giving me the ick....
Does the novel ends in chapter 716 or is it still ongoing?...
Absolutely beautiful!...
Oh my! I really like Whitney (Jeremy's mum). She's so down to earth. She didn't even acknowledge Sabrina's presence....
I don't know what's with this new writer, but they are only making things worse. Gianna does in fact know how to ride a horse. She's had lessons and she even had a race with Amelia where she threw nails on the track to cheat. Gianna fell in the mud and was embarrassed when they pulled the cameras at a riding club owned by Jeremy....
Why did Cloudspire Estate change from a house to an apartment? Why is the writer acting like Jeremy does not own the property and he is not the one that allowed Amelia stay there? I hate when the writer does not remember what they wrote....
This is chapter 51 again when it should be chapter 52. Please fix for future readers....
New chapters please. If Amelia doesn’t end up with Jeremy I’m going to cry...
