Chapter 104

BRANDON’S POV

That night, I stayed beside Aria like always.

The room was quiet except for the sound of the machines around her. I sat in the chair beside the bed, one hand loosely wrapped around hers while reading through another useless report Dominic had sent me.

Nothing. Again. Every lead ended in nothing. I was already irritated when my phone buzzed suddenly.

At first, I ignored it. Then it buzzed again. I frowned and picked it up impatiently.

Unknown Number.

My expression darkened immediately. I opened the message.

You took what is mine. If I can’t have her anymore, you can’t either.

My jaw tightened instantly. Then I saw the name attached beneath the text.Professor Hensley. For a second, I just stared at the screen.

Then slowly, anger began building inside me.”That bastard,” I muttered darkly. Everything connected immediately in my head.

The scandal. The obsession. The attack. My grip tightened around the phone as I stood up abruptly.

“You stayed obsessed with her even after everything?” I said coldly under my breath.

I looked toward Aria immediately. She still looked pale and weak against the hospital bed.

The thought of somebody hurting her because of some sick obsession made something violent rise inside

I dialed Dominic instantly. “Boss?”

“Get me Professor Hensley.”

There was a pause. “Now?”

“Did I stutter?”

“No, boss.”

“I want him found tonight.”

“Understood.” I ended the call and looked back at the text again. You took what is mine. The words irritated me more than they should have.

“She’s not yours,” I muttered angrily.

I leaned closer to Aria and brushed my thumb lightly against her hand. “I’ll handle it,” I said quietly. “Nobody’s touching you again.”

A few hours later, Dominic called back. “We found him, boss.”

“That was fast.”

“He’s been staying in a small countryside house outside the city.”

“Bring him in.”

“Yes, boss.” I ended the call immediately and looked toward Aria one last time before leaving the hospital. By the time I got home, they already had him.

The basement door opened slowly as I walked in.

Professor Hensley was tied to a chair, bruised and breathing hard already. Two of my men stood beside him silently.

The moment he saw me, his eyes widened slightly from recognition. Of course everyone fucking knew me. “Mr. Brandon,” he said quickly. “I don’t understand what this is.”

I laughed coldly while walking closer. “Really?”

“I swear, I don’t know why I’m here.”

“You know Aria.”

His expression shifted immediately. “Aria?”

“You heard me.”

“Yes,” he admitted carefully. “She was my student.”

“And you became obsessed with her.”

“No,” he said immediately.

I slammed my hand hard against the table beside him, making him flinch. “Do not lie to me.”

“I’m not lying!”

“Then explain this.” I shoved the phone toward him.

He stared at the message in confusion. Then slowly, he looked back up at me. “I didn’t send this.”

I laughed bitterly. “Of course you didn’t.”

“I swear I didn’t,” he insisted desperately. “I haven’t even spoken to Aria in months.”

“You expect me to believe that?”

“Yes,” he replied quickly. “Because it’s the truth.”

I stared at him coldly.

“You ruined her life,” I said. “And now she’s lying unconscious in a hospital because somebody tried to kill her.”

Shock crossed his face immediately. “What?”

“You heard me.”

“No…” he shook his head quickly. “I would never hurt her.”

“That’s interesting coming from a man accused of sleeping with his student.”

His expression changed immediately. “Because I didn’t.”

Silence filled the room. “What?” I asked coldly.

“I never touched her,” he said firmly despite the fear in his eyes. “Not once.”

I scoffed. “There was evidence.”

“That was fake evidence,” he replied immediately. I frowned slightly. He swallowed hard before continuing. “It started because of her boyfriend, Julian.”

That name caught my attention immediately. “What does Julian have to do with this?”

“He misunderstood things,” the professor explained quickly. “I was helping Aria after classes because she was struggling with some materials.”

“That’s all?”

“Yes.” I stared at him carefully while he continued speaking. “He got jealous,” he said quietly. “Then rumors started spreading.”

“And the pictures?”

“They’re fabricated.”

“The messages?”

“Edited too.” I narrowed my eyes slightly. “My enemies at the university used it against me,” he continued bitterly. “People already hated me there. Once the rumors started, they used them to destroy me completely.”

I stayed silent.

“I lost everything,” he said quietly. “My job. My reputation. My marriage.” His voice cracked slightly. “My children don’t even speak to me anymore.”

For the first time since entering the basement, he looked broken instead of defensive. “And you expect me to

believe all this?” I asked coldly.

“I’m telling the truth.”

One of my men stepped forward slightly. “Boss, should we continue?” I looked at the professor carefully again. Then something clicked in my head.

The text location. I pulled out my phone immediately and checked the tracker again. My expression darkened slowly.

The text had not come from the countryside location where the professor was found. It came from somewhere completely different.

I looked back at him slowly. “You didn’t send this,” I said finally.

Relief crossed his face immediately. “I told you.” I stepped back quietly. For a moment, nobody spoke.

Then Dominic frowned slightly. “Boss?” I rubbed my jaw slowly. I had acted emotionally. And I hated emotional decisions.
