Chapter 114
BRANDON’S POV
At his words, I felt my blood boil. How dare he come into my house and spill all this trash about me getting married? Who the hell did he think he was to decide that for me?
When I wanted to marry Claire, he and my mother were so against the inarriage because to them, her status wasn’t befitting for them. When I went ahead and married her anyway, they didn’t attend the wedding.
Not that I cared. Even when she died, they didn’t even bother to ask how I was doing. My mother was even elated and asked when I would get married and now this?
The worst part was that a small part of me understood exactly why the offer was tempting
I would get power, connections and most importantly, more control over the market. I would even get unlimited access to more investors.
This was the kind of marriage people in my world arranged every single day without hesitation. And it was dropped on me like a life changing opportunity.
But the moment I pictured myself standing beside some stranger while helping steal Aria’s father’s company, disgust settled heavily inside me.
I couldn’t do that to her at all. How would she see me then? I looked at my foster father coldly. “Thank you, but that’s a hard no.”
His brows lifted slightly. “You should think carefully before refusing my offer, Brandon.”
“I already did.” I said, leaving no room for argument.
“You’re turning down a major opportunity.” he said, his eyes red with anger but it didn’t deter me at all. If anything, it made
me rebel more.
“I said no.”
His expression slowly hardened after that. “You really are becoming foolish.”
I stayed silent. “You‘ your judgment.”

“My decisions are none of your business.”
“She’s carrying another man’s child and somehow you still can’t think properly around her.”
Something dark flickered inside me immediately, but I forced myself to stay calm.
“I’m not marrying someone I don’t care about,” I said flatly. “And I’m definitely not helping you rob Aria of her father’s legacy.”
His eyes narrowed slightly. “So this is about morality now?”
“This is about not being a terrible human being.”
A quiet scoff escaped him. “You are so weak.” I did not react. “A smart man would secure his future.”

A desperate map would. I, for one, am not desperate, old man.” I corrected calmly.

That clearly irritated him because his jaw tightened immediately. “You’re wasting yourself over a woman who will eventually become a burden.”
I stepped closer slowly. “You need to leave. Now. And don’t step foot on my property again.” For a second, neither of us spoke.
Then he grabbed his coat calmly. “One day you’ll regret this decision.”
“Maybe.” I opened the study door without hesitation. “But today isn’t that day.”
His expression remained cold as he walked past me. “Don’t contact me again when things collapse around you.”
“I won’t.” A few minutes later, the front door shut behind him. The entire house became quiet again. I stood there for a moment while rubbing my forehead slowly. My mood was already ruined completely.
Then I heard soft footsteps behind me.
I turned slightly and saw Aria standing nearby holding Amelia carefully against her chest. “What happened?” she asked quietly.
“Nothing.”
She gave me a look immediately. “That’s obviously not true.”
I exhaled slowly. “It’s handled.”
“Brandon.” The way she said my name made me look at her again. “You’ve done a lot for me already,” she said softly. “The least I can do is listen when something is bothering you.”
Something about those words affected me more than it should have. I stayed quiet for a few seconds before finally speaking. “He came with another business proposal.”
Her brows pulled together slightly. “What kind of proposal?”
I leaned against the table behind me. “He offered to help expand my business and deal with the people behind your accident.”
“That doesn’t sound terrible.”
“There were conditions.”
Her expression shifted immediately. “What kind of conditions?”
I hesitated briefly before answering. “He wants me to marry some rich heiress connected to his business partners.”
Aria blinked slowly. “Oh.” I wanted to tell her about the part where he wanted her father’s company entirely to himself but I couldn’t. She would get stressed and I didn’t want that at all.
Silence filled the room briefly before she spoke again. “Why didn’t you just agree to the marriage part at least?”
That question caught me off guard immediately. I looked at her carefully. “What?”
“You’re still single,” she continued quietly. “And according to him, the woman is beautiful and rich.”

tared at her for a moment longer than necessary. Something about hearing her say that irritated me unexpectedly.
But I pushed it aside quickly. “I’m not interested.”
“Because you don’t know her?”
“Because I don’t want to marry somebody for business
Aria stayed quiet after that.
I straightened slightly and changed the subject before the conversation went somewhere dangerous. “The situation around your father’s company is getting worse.”
Her attention shifted immediately. “What do you mean?”
