Chapter 145
ÁRIA’S POV
90 yosh
When I first received that text message from Julian saying he had Amelia, I was so incredibly pissed.
My hands had been shakinig sa violently I could barely hold my phone. I tried calling his number back immediately, over and over again, but he didn’t answer.
That dead silence on the other end of the line scared me even more than the text itself. Panic had gripped my throat.
He had essentially kidnapped my daughter right from her school, and in that moment, I hated him more than I ever thought possible. I absolutely hated him.
In my sheer terror, I had even called Brandon, desperately needing someone to lean on. But Brandon was completely occupied with something important and couldn’t take my call right away.
It was only when I finally heard the roaring sound of Julian’s sports car pulling into the driveway outside that Brandon managed to call me back.
By then, I was just so relieved to see Amelia walking through the door, safe and sound, that the panic finally left my chest.
But now, Amelia was asleep, and Julian still had the absolute guts to sit right here in my living room. He was staring at me shamelessly, his eyes moving over my nightwear as if I were his property.
I had to physically step forward and tap him on the shoulder just to get him to come back to earth.
“Stop looking at me like that, Julian,” I snapped, my voice a harsh whisper so I wouldn’t wake our daughter.
“And listen to me very carefully. I don’t like the way you are using Amelia to find your way back into my life. It is low, and it is cruel. You need to stop picking her up from school without my permission, because your little plans are not going to work.”
I crossed my arms tighter over my chest, glaring into his dark eyes. “Our chapter is over, Julian. It has been over for five years now. Nothing can ever happen between us anymore.”
Instead of backing down, Julian stood up from the couch. He got closer to me, taking slow, deliberate steps until he was standing right in the center of my personal space.
He didn’t say a single word at first, and my breath instantly hitched in my throat. God, I hated it. His familiar, expensive scent was still exactly the same as I remembered, filling my nose and messing with my head.
His huge, muscular frame completely covered me, casting a shadow over my body under the dim living room lights. I deeply hated how my heart still skipped a beat and how my breath still got caught just by being in close proximity to him.
I hated that my body remembered him even when my mind wanted nothing to do with him.
His eyes roamed down my body again, completely shameless as they traced the lines of my exposed thighs. Finally, he spoke, his voice deep and rough.
“I am not using Amelia, Aria. I would never use our daughter. I am only trying to make up for all the time I lost with her. And with you.”
He took another half–step forward, his eyes locking onto mine with an intensity that made my knees feel weak.
“I will be right here, Aria. I am going to stay right here and wait for as long as it takes for you to forgive me. I never intended to hurt you back then. I swear to you. I was young, and I was so stupid.”

I stared at him, a bitter, unbelieving laugh forcing its way out of my throat “Are you lastering to your going to follow you back to our old city. I am going to remain right here. I have built a good ide for me and I we perfectly okay where I am.”
“But Amelia needs her father!” Julian insisted sharply, taking a step forward again, his chest bearing, “She deserves to her real father in her life, Aria. You can’t keep her from me, and you can’t deny that the needs a dad”
My jaw tightened, and I looked at him with absolute disdain. “Amelia already has a father figure julitan. She had Beaution While you were gone, Brandon was the one who was there for her every single day. She didn’t need you toen acted we doesn’t need you now.”
Julian looked at me, a flash of deep pain and anger crossing his features before he spoke. I am ready to do whatever it takes to make things right between us, Aria. Just tell me what you want.”
He took a breath, his desperate eyes searching mine. “Do you want me to break up with Leonie? Because if that is what i takes, I will do it right away. I will end it tonight.”
He took another step toward me, his hands half–raised as if he wanted to reach out and touch me but was too afred I would pull away again.
“These past five years without you have been the absolute darkest years I have ever experienced in my entire life. I was miserable. I promise you, Aria, I will never, ever hurt you again.”
I looked at him, hearing the raw desperation in his voice. For a split second, a tiny part of me wanted to believe ha
But the heavy, thick shield I had built over my heart during those five years of poverty, hunger, and loneliness wasn’t something that could be broken easily by a few sweet promises.
He had ruined me once, and I couldn’t let him do it again. I turned my back to him, pointing a cold, trembling finger toward the front door.
“I don’t care about Leonie, and I don’t care about your promises,” I said, my voice turning as cold as ice. Just leave. Julsan. Get out of my house.”

Chapter 146
128 VONCHI
I just wanted a place that was comfortable enough and safe enough to accommodate me and Amelia. Luckily, the agent was highly efficient.
He sent me a few options, and I quickly found one that I really liked. I didn’t even hesitate. I made the full payment ASAP right over my phone and planned to move all our things out the very next day.
A few hours later, my phone started ringing violently. It was Julian. He was calling me the exact moment he received the restraining order papers from the courier.
I took a deep breath and answered it, keeping my voice dead and cold. “What do you want, Julian?”
“What the hell is the meaning of this, Aria?” Julian roared through the phone, his voice shaking with absolute disbelief and
anger.
“A restraining order? Are you seriously trying to legally ban me from seeing my own daughter? From seeing you?”
“My mind is completely made up, Julian,” I told him, gripping the phone tightly. “Those papers are real. If you break that court order by coming anywhere close to me or Amelia’s school again, you will either pay a huge, massive fine, or you will be reprimanded and locked up by the cops. Don’t test me.”
Julian let out a harsh, dark laugh through the receiver. “Do you think I give a damn about a piece of paper, Aria? I don’t care about the law. I would gladly give up all my funds, every single dollar I own, just to see you. I can pay whatever fine they throw at me.”
*His voice dropped, turning incredibly deep and desperate. “Those papers are not going to stop me from coming close to
you, Aria. Nothing will.”
I let out a heavy, tired sigh, my head throbbing. “You are a crazy, selfish asshole,” I muttered.
Before he could say another word, I hung up the phone and blocked his number completely.
Hearing his threats only made me hasten my plans. I ran around the apartment, pulling out boxes and packing our clothes as fast as I could, determined to move into the new apartment first thing in the morning.
The next morning, the sun was just starting to rise. I was standing in the kitchen, brewing a quick cup of coffee to keep myself awake, when I heard small footsteps rushing down the hallway.
Amelia came running straight into the kitchen, her eyes wide with excitement. In her little hands, she was holding a massive, beautiful bouquet of fresh red roses, along with a small, handwritten note.
“Mommy, look!” she chirped happily, holding them up to me. “I found these sitting right outside our front door when I went to look for the morning papers!”
At first, my heart dropped into my stomach and my blood ran cold. A wave of anger washed over me because I automatically thought it was Julian breaking the order already.
But then, I reached out and took the note from Amelia’s hands. The moment my eyes landed on the neat, familiar handwriting, my heart calmed down. It wasn’t Julian’s. It was Brandon’s.
I opened the folded paper and read the sweet words he had written for me:
Aria,
I know things got incredibly heated between us the other day, and my heart breaks knowing I left you alone to face the storm. I never want to be the man who disappears when you need a rock to lean on. I am so sorry for walking away. Please accept these roses as a small reminder that no matter how hard things get, I am always right here, waiting to protect you and Amelia. Forever yours,
