Chapter 157
JULIAN’S POV
At first, I was completely shocked. My mind raced as I held the phone to my ear. How the hell did the news get to Brandon so quickly?
Aria didn’t even know it was my father who orchestrated the blackmail, so there was no way she could have told him.
Except, of course, Brandon had his dirty little spies hiding in every single corner of this city. I straightened my posture, gripping the phone tighter as my shock turned back into irritation.
“You know absolutely nothing about what is going on, Brandon,” I snapped, my voice sharp. “So do me a favor and stop acting like you do. What happened today was just a minor miscalculation. I have everything completely under control.”
Brandon let out a loud, mocking laugh through the receiver. “Under control: You are a fucking fool, Julian. You claim to love Aria so much, and yet you can’t even protect her or her family’s company from your own blood.”
“Shut the hell up!” I roared, the anger from my father’s house boiling right back to the surface. “You don’t understand anything. You don’t understand how much I love Aria, or what I am willing to do for her.”

“Oh, really? Where was all that grand love five years ago?” Brandon asked, his tone suddenly dropping into something cold and vicious. “Where was it when you walked away and left her entirely at the mercy of the press? Don’t talk to me about love, Julian.”
My throat cleared, but before I could even formulate a harsh response to throw back in his face, Brandon cut me off completely.
“Listen to me. I didn’t call you to chitchat or take a trip down memory lane,” Brandon said, his voice deadly serious. “I called to tell you one thing, and you better make sure you listen carefully. Go and warn your father.”
I frowned. “What?”
“I prioritized Aria’s happiness so much that I went against my own father just to protect it,” Brandon made it crystal clear.
“So trust me when I tell you that your father will not be an exception to the rule. I have the power and the connections to run the Vance family straight into the ground if that is what it takes to protect Aria and Amelia.”
A bitter laugh escaped my lips. I mocked him instantly, my voice dripping with venom. “Run us into the ground? With what power, Brandon? The power of the same father who rejected you over the years? You are nothing but a bastard.”

There was a sharp, angry intake of breath on the other end of the line. “Watch your fucking mouth, Julian,” Brandon hissed, completely pissed off.
Before I could say another word, the line went completely dead. He had hung up on me. I cursed loudly, tossing the phone aggressively onto the bed.
I rubbed my face with both hands, trying to calm my racing heart, before pulling on a comfortable pair of pajamas. I was extremely furious.
I snatched my phone back up and searched for any possible way to contact Aria, but it was useless. She had blocked my number, my social media, and everything else everywhere.
was Blake.
I desperately needed to make things clear to her. I couldn’t let her go on believing I was the monster who attacked her father’s company. In the middle of my frustration, my phone lit up with an incoming call.

pressed it to my ear. “What, Blake?”
“Hey, Julian. Did Aria get to you?” Blake asked quickly, sounding a bit out of breath. “She called me earlier demanding to know exactly where you were she sounded completely insane, man.”
I didn’t even bother to respond to his question. Suddenly, a bright spark of excitement flashed in my eyes. Blake. She hadn’t blocked Blake.
Without thinking twice, I whirled around, stepped out of my bedroom in my pajamas, and grabbed my car keys from the nightstand. I hurried down the stairs, but the moment reached the bottom, my feet ground to a halt.
The dining room light was still on. Leonie was sitting at the table, calmly eating the roasted chicken she had prepared, acting exactly like she hadn’t heard a single word of the screaming match we had just had a while ago.
When she saw me walking by in my pajamas with my car keys in hand, she wiped her mouth with a napkin, smiled sweetly, and asked. “Where are you going in such a hurry, Julian?”
I didn’t respond. I just glared at her with pure disdain. Her smile faded slightly, replaced by a stubborn, rigid expression. “I’m staying, by the way. I’m not going anywhere tonight.”
I scoffed loudly, rolling my eyes, and walked right past her without throwing a single word in her direction. I had absolutely no time or energy for Leonie’s pathetic games right now.
Once I fixed this massive disaster my father had created, I would personally throw her out and let the lawyers handle the divorce. Right now, Aria was the only thing that mattered.
I knew Aria wouldn’t block Blake, so contacting her through his phone was my absolute safest option. I ran out to my car, jumped into the driver’s seat, and drove all the way to Blake’s house like a man possessed.
When I finally arrived, I slammed my hand against his front door. Blake had barely even opened it when I pushed past him roughly, storming right into his living room.
I spotted his phone lying on the couch, walked over, and grabbed it immediately. “Whoa, Julian! What the hell is your problem?” Blake asked, closing the door and turning around to stare at me in complete shock.
“You’re in your PJs, you just barge in, and now you’re stealing my phone?”
I didn’t look up at him. I held the device out toward his face. “Open it. Now.”
quickly
Blake raised his eyebrows but saw the dangerous look in my eyes and quickly tapped in his passcode. The moment the
ľ screen unlocked, I snatched it back.
I opened his messages, pulled up Aria’s contact, and began to type a long, desperate epistle.
