Chapter 48

ARIA’S POV

It all happened too fast.

One moment, the woman was on her knees, trembling, begging. The next… Julian was already pulling out his phone.

I barely had time to process the shift in his expression before he started making calls. Short. Precise. Cold.

“Yes… effective immediately.” A pause. “No exceptions.” Another pause. “Pull everything.”

My stomach dropped.

I didn’t need to hear the full conversation to understand what was happening. The moment he hung up, the energy in the room changed completely.

Phones started ringing. Staff whispering. The woman’s face drained of what little color it had left.

“No… no, please…” she crawled forward, her hands shaking as she reached toward him again, this time more desperate than before. “You can’t do this. This is our livelihood-please, I’m begging you!”

Her daughter dropped beside her, panic replacing the arrogance from earlier. “We’re sorry! We didn’t mean it….please don’t ruin us!”

But Julian didn’t even look at them. Not once. It was like they didn’t exist anymore. And somehow… that was

worse.

Within minutes, it got worse. Calls came in one after another. Investors. Partners. People pulling out.

Fear spread like wildfire. All because of him. I stood there, frozen, my heart pounding in my chest. This… this

was power.

Real power. Not the kind people brag about. The kind that ends things. The kind that doesn’t need to shout to be heard.

The woman broke down completely, sobbing now, her voice hoarse as she clutched the hem of Julian’s trousers. “Please… please, we’ll fix it… we’ll do anything…”

He stepped back. Slowly. Deliberately. Like her touch disgusted him. And still… he said nothing. Did nothing. He just turned.

And walked away. “Come on,” he said to me, like nothing had happened. Like he hadn’t just destroyed everything they had.

My feet moved before my mind could catch up. I followed him out, my chest tight, my thoughts a mess. The moment we stepped outside, I exhaled shakily.

“Julian…” I started. He didn’t stop walking,

“They shouldn’t have touched you,” he said simply. That was it. No hesitation. No regret. I swallowed.

A part of me… liked it. The way he stood up for me. The way no one could hurt me when he was there.

But another part of me felt uneasy. Because if he could do that to them, what was stopping him from doing it to anyone else?

Or worse… to me? I pushed the thought away quickly. “Where are we going now?” I asked instead.

He opened the car door for me. “Somewhere better.” The second boutique was… different.

Quieter. More refined. No judgmental stares. No whispers.

Just elegance.

And this time, no one dared look at me the wrong way. Not with Julian standing there. I took my time, moving through the racks slowly, letting my fingers brush over fabrics that felt too soft, too expensive.

And then I saw it. The dress.

It wasn’t loud. It wasn’t overly extravagant.

But it was… perfect. Soft, flowing, elegant in a way that made my breath catch slightly.

“This one,” I said quietly.

Julian didn’t even hesitate. “Get it.” No price check. No second glance. Just certainty. And somehow… I didn’t

argue.

By the time we got home, everything felt calmer. Like the chaos from earlier had been sealed away somewhere I didn’t have to think about.

But that calm didn’t last long. Because preparation for the event started immediately.

Julian didn’t do things halfway. Stylists arrived. Hair. Makeup. Accessories. At some point, I just let them take

over.

And when they were done, I barely recognized myself.

I stood in front of the mirror, my breath catching slightly. The girl staring back at me…

She didn’t look like the “scholarship girl” from earlier.

She looked… different, confident. Elegant. Like she belonged in places I had always felt out of place in. “Done?” Julian’s voice came from behind me.

I turned. And froze. He was already dressed. A black tailored suit that fit him perfectly, his hair styled neatly, his presence alone enough to command attention.

But it wasn’t that. It was the way he was looking at me. Like he’d never seen me before. Like he didn’t expect this.

His jaw tightened slightly. “…You clean up well,” he said finally.

A small smile tugged at my lips. “You don’t look bad yourself.”

His gaze lingered for a second longer before he turned. “Let’s go.” The drive to the manor was quiet. But not

tense.

Just… heavy.

Because reality was starting to sink in. “Julian…” I murmured softly, my fingers twisting slightly in my lap. “Who’s going to be there?”

“Everyone,” he replied. That didn’t help. My stomach tightened. Family. Friends. Business partners. People like him, not like me.

“I don’t think this is a good idea,” I admitted quietly.

His hand reached over, gripping mine briefly.

“Relax.” Easy for him to say. The car slowed as we approached the estate.

And when the gates opened, my breath caught. The manor was massive.

Lights lined the driveway, the lawn transformed into something straight out of a dream. Decorations, soft music, people dressed in elegance moving around like this was their normal.
