Chapter 99
Chapter 99
BRANDON’S POV
I was in my office when one of my men spoke. “Sir, there’s a problem.”
I didn’t even look up from the document in front of me. “I’m busy. You can handle it.”
“It’s Miss Aria.” Everything stopped.
Slowly, I lifted my head. “What about her?” The room suddenly felt too quiet.
“There’s been an accident,” the man said carefully.
My pen slipped from my fingers. “What?”

“The car. It was hit by a truck.” For a second, I just stared at him like I didn’t understand the language he was speaking. Then it hit. Hard.
“Where is she?” My voice came out sharp. Dangerous.
“At St. Catherine’s Hospital.”
The chair scraped loudly against the floor as I stood.
“If anything happens to her…” I didn’t finish the sentence. I didn’t need to. They all knew. “Get the car,” I snapped.
“It’s ready, sir.” The drive felt endless.
“Faster,” I said.
“Sir, we’re already-”
“I said faster!” The driver pressed harder. My hand dragged down my face as my thoughts spiraled. Aria. Her voice from last night echoed in my head.
“Then show me.” The memory hit harder than it should have.
“Damn it…” I muttered. By the time we got to the hospital, I didn’t wait for the car to fully stop.
“Sir-”
“Out of my way.” I walked straight to the front desk. “Aria,” I said. “She was brought in from an accident. Where is she?”
“Sir, you need to-”
“Now.”

The nurse swallowed. “Room 304.” I was already moving. When I pushed the door open, my chest tightened. She was lying there. Her body was still.
There were machines around her, bandages to cover the bruises. “Aria,” I said, softer this time as I stepped
closer.
There was no response from her. I turned sharply. “Doctor,”
A man stepped forward. “Mr. Brandon.”
“How bad is it?”
“She’s stable.” he said. “She’s unconscious, but she’s not in immediate danger.”
“And the baby?” I cut in.
He nodded. “The baby is safe.”
I exhaled slowly, my shoulders dropping just a little. “Why isn’t she awake?” I asked.
“Shock.” he replied. “The body sometimes shuts down after trauma.”
My jaw tightened. “When will she wake up?”
“We’re monitoring her. It shouldn’t be long.” It shouldn’t. I hated that word more than anything right now.
I looked back at her. “You said it was an accident,” I said slowly. “Explain it to me.”
Before the doctor could answer, one of my men stepped forward. “Sir… it wasn’t random.”
My eyes snapped to him. “Talk.”
“The truck came straight at them. No hesitation.” Silence.
“And the driver?” I asked.
“He saw it coming,” the man continued. “He knew they were about to be hit.”
“And?”
“He let go of the steering and threw himself over her.”
My brows pulled together. “What?”
“He shielded her, sir. Took most of the impact.” I turned back to Aria. Then back to him.
“Where is he?”
“He’s currently in the ICU. His condition is critical.”
A muscle in my jaw ticked. “Make sure he doesn’t die,” I said coldly. “Do whatever it takes.”

My gaze returned to her again. “She wasn’t the target,” I said quietly. No one spoke. “They were coming for me.” The realization settled heavy in the room. “And she was in my car,” I added, my voice dropping further.
That made it worse. Much worse. I ran a hand through my hair, pacing once. “Find that truck,” I ordered.
“We’re trying-
“Don’t try,” I snapped. “Find it.”
“Yes, sir.”
“Cameras. Traffic feeds. Anything.”
He nodded immediately, sensing how bad and desperate I was. “We’ll get it.”
I stopped pacing. My eyes went back to her. “You don’t get to do this,” I muttered under my breath. “You don’t get to lie there while I deal with this alone.”
Silence. She didn’t move. That anger inside me? It didn’t go away. It grew. I stayed with her for a few minutes before standing up. I wouldn’t stay here and wait for another accident.
When I got home, I didn’t go upstairs. I went down. Straight to the basement. I stood at the door for a few seconds. Then I opened it.
The lights flickered on. Screens. Wires. Surveillance systems. Everything I had buried.
Everything I swore I would never touch again. But this time, I had no choice again.
“If coming back here would get me to the culprit, then so be it,” I muttered. I sent a direct message to all of my men asking them to meet me there.
Minutes later, they started arriving. “Boss.”
