The Human Among Wolves (Aurora) novel Chapter 381

Chapter 381

My wolf was no longer silent.

She roared.

Bones snapped.

Skin peeled.

Muscle twisted and reformed.

st along my arms, my back, my legs.

seconds I was no longer standing on two feet.

I slammed to the floor on four.

My eyes-silver and violet-glowed with something ancient and furious.

Sergei froze.

Too slow.

I was on him before he could blink.

My jaws closed around his throat-My teeth sank deep into the soft flesh, puncturing skin and muscle with a wet, ripping sound. Hot blood sprayed across my muzzle as I tore through his windpipe, feeling the crunch of cartilage and the gush of arterial spray coating my fur. He gurgled, hands clawing weakly at my face, but I shook my head savagely, ripping out a chunk of his neck in a spray of gore. His body convulsed, the metallic tang of his blood filling my senses with deadly satisfaction as he slumped lifeless to the floor, throat a mangled ruin.

Chaos erupted around me-footsteps pounding from the halls, shouts of alarm, doors banging open. The wolf’s nature surged fully, drowning out my human pleas to stop, to regain control. Three maids burst into the room first, their eyes widening in horror at the blood-soaked scene. I pounced on the nearest one, a young woman in a simple dress, my claws raking down her chest. Fabric tore like paper as I slashed deep, ribs cracking under the force. Blood welled from the gashes, soaking her front, and she screamed before my jaws closed on her shoulder, biting through muscle and bone with a crunch. I shook her like a rag doll, her arm ripping free in a fountain of blood, arteries spurting as she collapsed, gurgling on her own fluids.

The second maid tried to run, but I was faster, tackling her to the ground. My teeth found her thigh, sinking into the meaty flesh just above the knee, tearing through skin and tendon. She howled as I ripped upward, exposing the white of bone amid, her leg buckling uselessly. Blood pooled beneath her, warm and sticky, as I lunged for her face, jaws clamping over her jawline. I bit down hard, teeth grinding through her cheek, shattering bone and pulling away a flap of skin and meat. Her screams turned to wet chokes, blood bubbling from her mouth as she drowned in it, her body twitching.

The third mand backed away, bumbling for a door, but my claws hooked into her back, shredding her dress and the skin beneath. She tell

forward, ass up, and 1 mounted ber like prey, teeth sinking into the nape of her neck. The vertebrae snapped with a sharp crack, spina! cord severing in a burst of blood and cerebrospinal fluid.

Her body went limp instantly, limbs splaying out as I tore into her side, ripping open her abdomen. Guts spilled onto the floor in

steaming coils, the stench of shit and bile mixing with the iron reek of blood. I fed briefly, jaws crunching through organs, the hot,

coppery taste fueling the frenzy.

More voices shouted from the corridors-guards, perhaps, or other servants-but the wolf didn’t care. It charged onward, a blur of fur and fury, slaughtering without mercy. One man rounded the corner, sword half-drawn; my claws eviscerated him mid-step, belly splitting open to spill intestines in a slimy trail. A woman screamed from a doorway; I barreled into her, jaws crushing her skull against the frame, brains splattering in gray-pink clumps. Blood painted the walls, floors slick with it, the air thick with the symphony of ripping flesh and dying gasps. My human mind watched in horror, begging for it to end, but the beast reveled, a monstrous, bloodthirsty force unleashed,
