Chapter 382
Aurora
The bodies lay everywhere.
Broken. Torn. Motionless.
Blood soaked the floorboards, seeping between the cracks like it was trying to escape the room. The metallic scent clung to my fur, thick and suffocating, mixing with the sound of my own ragged breathing. My wolf stood in the center of it all-huge, trembling, her chest rising and falling in violent bursts.
She wasn’t done.
She was waiting for more.
Waiting for the next heartbeat that didn’t belong to her.
And then she heard it.
Footsteps.
My wolf’s ears snapped forward.
Her massive body angled toward the door, muscles bunching beneath my fur, ready to leap-to kill-because everything that moved had been danger so far.
The doorknob turned.
My wolf crouched lower, lips peeling back to bare fangs still stained with blood.
The door opened-
And the world stopped.
Two figures filled the doorway.
Both frozen.
Both wide-eyed.
Both staring not at the bodies-not at the blood-but straight at me.

Zayn.
His scent hit me first.
Familiar and sharp and agonizing all at once.
Behind him, just over his shoulder, Kael stepped inside too, slower, as if each breath was something he had to force into his lungs.
They both looked like they’d run through a battlefield- snow in their hair, clothes wrinkled, eyes bloodshot-but nothing compared to the
way they looked at me in that moment.
Not with fear.
Not with disgust.
But with something closer to horror at what had been done to me.
My wolf’s vision tunneled to Zayn and nothing else.
Mate.
The word slammed through me like a strike of lightning.
A plea. A recognition. A scream of relief so powerful it nearly knocked the breath out of me.
Mate. Mate. Mate.
She pushed forward, forcing my massive paws to take a step toward him.
Zayn didn’t move. He didn’t retreat. He didn’t raise a weapon.
He whispered my name like a prayer he was terrified to lose.
“Aurora…”
My wolf’s chest tightened painfully.
Her body shuddered-once, then violently again-as something inside me shifted. Not rage this time. Not instinct. Not violence.
Something softer.
Older.

Chapter 382
Something that recognized him with a completeness nothing else ever had.
Her legs buckled.
I felt it before I understood it-the pull back into myself, like someone had yanked a thread deep inside my ribs. My wolf stumbled
backward, claws scraping the blood-slick floorboards.
And them pain…
Bones grinding-
Muscles twisting
Fur retracting in a wave of fire under my skin.
My spine cracked back into place with a jolt that made me choke.
I could hear myself whimpering-half-wolf, half-human- as my body folded inward, reshaping, shrinking, remaking itself with a violent
urgency. Every nerve felt like it was being scraped raw.
The world blurred.
Fur melted away.
My hands-my actual hands-slammed against the ground, fingers splayed, trembling. My ribs contracted, forcing a desperate, broken
breath out of me. My knees hit the floor next, a jolt of agony shooting through my legs.
My vision swam.
For a moment, everything spun-blood, bodies, the ruined room-a nauseating carousel around me.
I collapsed forward onto my palms, naked, shaking, drenched in sweat and blood that wasn’t mine.
My hair clung to my face.
My breaths came out in ragged, wet gasps.
Every inch of me felt like it had been ripped apart and stitched back together wrong-
But I could see again.
I could think again.
I lifted my head slowly-so slowly-until my blurred vision locked onto Zayn’s
