The IVF Secret That Shook a Dynasty novel Chapter 202

“Okay. Call me if you need anything,” Joseph told her.

“I will.” Vivica gave him a grateful smile and got out of the car.

After she had walked a little way, Roderic looked back at Joseph. “Sir, should I follow her?”

Joseph nodded. “Stay out of sight unless she needs help.”

“Understood.”

It was a private family matter, after all. Vivica wouldn’t want an outsider involved.

The Lynn family lived on the third floor. Vivica held her side and climbed the stairs slowly, the effort winding her.

After she got married, Zebulon had mentioned several times that she should buy them a nice house in a gated community so they could move out of this place. Vivica had planned on doing just that once Fletcher’s company became more successful and their finances improved. Now, it seemed that wouldn’t be necessary.

In hindsight, the money she’d given her family over the years would have been more than enough for a down payment on a house if they hadn’t squandered it all.

Standing at the front door, Vivica looked at the fingerprint lock—another thing she had installed for them last year because Evelyn was forgetful and always misplaced her keys. She took a deep breath, steeling herself before raising her hand to the scanner.

The lock clicked open. She pulled the door open and stepped into the entryway, only to hear urgent voices from inside.

“Hurry, hurry!”

“Who is that? You said no one else was home!”

“Just get dressed, now!”

A man and a woman. The man’s voice was unfamiliar, but the woman was Evelyn.

Before Evelyn could respond, the old man caught sight of Vivica and a grin spread across his face. “Is this your daughter? She’s much better looking than the rest of you!”

Vivica saw the way he was looking at her, a predatory male gaze that made her feel sick to her stomach. “Get out!” she snapped. “Or I’m calling the police!”

The man just laughed. “Why call the cops? Your mother invited me over.”

Evelyn, clearly guilty, pushed the man toward the door. “Gary, maybe you should go. We can talk later.”

The man chuckled, pointing to the gold chain around her neck. “You took the gift. Don’t go back on your word.”

“Of course not. I’ll be in touch,” Evelyn cooed, ushering him out.

As the old man walked to the door, his lecherous eyes stayed fixed on Vivica, making her so uncomfortable that she instinctively took several steps back.
