The IVF Secret That Shook a Dynasty novel Chapter 276

Vivica scarfed down her food in just under ten minutes.

Holly watched her, frowning. “What’s the rush? You’re going to choke.”

“I have to make a call. You take your time,” Vivica explained hurriedly, getting up with her tray.

Holly assumed it had something to do with her son and didn't press the issue.

Vivica left the cafeteria and went downstairs, finding a spot in the open area between the office building and the factory. The afternoon sun was warm, and she stood there for a moment, letting it soak in.

She opened WhatsApp and watched the video again, her face flushing once more. She had to admit, the quality was impressive—full of vitality and energy.

She remembered when Fletcher had gone for his check-up. The doctor had said the microscope showed a blank slate. They had managed to find one lone sperm, but it was half-dead and completely unsuitable for implantation.

Perhaps it was fate, refusing to let Fletcher’s inferior genes be passed on.

After watching the video, Vivica closed the app. She looked at “Mr. Baird” in her call log, and even before dialing, she could feel a nervous flutter in her chest.

Taking a deep breath to compose herself, she made the call.

The phone rang four or five times before he answered.

“You’re one minute late,” his cool, deep voice said.

“I… I was at lunch, and my colleagues were right there. It wasn’t convenient. I ate as fast as I could,” Vivica explained.

Joseph had figured she was eating, so he let it go. He was in his car now, on his way back to the firm. Roderic was busy with something else, so he was driving himself. The phone was connected to the car’s Bluetooth, and Vivica’s voice filled the cabin.

“Yes. Why? Do you think I faked it?”

“No,” she murmured, biting her lip. Her mind still felt fuzzy, and she didn’t know what to say, idly scuffing her shoe against the concrete.

After a few seconds of silence, she finally managed, “Well, as long as you’re healthy, I’m relieved. But next time you send a video like that, could you maybe give me a heads-up? My colleague was right next to me, and she almost saw it when I opened it.”

“A heads-up?” Joseph asked, a smile playing on his lips as he navigated the traffic. “What was I supposed to say? ‘I’m about to send you a private video, you should go hide somewhere to watch it’?”

Vivica was speechless again.

Joseph continued his cold critique. “You were the one who wanted me to get tested. I did it, and now you’re complaining about my report.”

“I’m not complaining, just offering a friendly reminder,” Vivica said weakly. After a pause, she added, “Besides, you didn’t have to send the video at all. You could have just sent a picture of the report.”
