The IVF Secret That Shook a Dynasty novel Chapter 524

Cheryl was surprised. "A second child? You and Mr. Baird?"

"Yes."

"But Chaim isn't his biological son. Having a second child in your situation..."

Vivica offered a faint smile. "But this is the optimal solution. If the baby is born and still isn't a match, we'll just have to keep waiting for a donor from the national bone marrow registry."

Originally, everyone had been in pretty good spirits.

Hearing this, however, they all fell silent, and the atmosphere grew heavy.

Compared to Hillary and Hayes' illnesses, Chaim's sickness was naturally far more heartbreaking.

After all, the child was only three years old. His bright future hadn't even begun.

If he couldn't be cured, if he passed away so young...

As Hillary thought about it, tears welled up in her eyes. She lowered her head and raised a hand to wipe them away.

"Vivica, could you let Chaim sit a little closer? I want to get a good look at him." From the moment she found out about her grandson's existence until now, she hadn't even been able to touch him.

She and her husband had such shallow ties with their own children in this lifetime that they had long given up hope of ever seeing a biological grandson.

Now that he had appeared out of thin air, how could they not be overjoyed and treasure him?

Seeing her red-rimmed eyes, Vivica knew she was aching for Chaim.

"Baby, let's go sit over by Grandma, okay?" Her heart softening, the words slipped from Vivica's lips.

Hearing the word "Grandma," Hillary's tears instantly spilled over.

She knew her daughter was willing to forgive them, but she also understood that even with forgiveness, she wouldn't start calling them "Mom" and "Dad" so quickly.

So, to her, that one word—"Grandma"—was undoubtedly the title that struck closest to her heart.

She hadn't planned on having Chaim officially meet her biological mother this quickly.

She just couldn't force herself to act overly "enthusiastic" and close the distance between them so suddenly.

Fortunately, Joseph worked fast. He quickly finished revising the agreements and printed out the new copies using a portable printer.

"Vivica, it's ready. Come take a look," Joseph called out.

Vivica gave a murmur of acknowledgment. As she turned around, she raised a hand to touch her own face.

She didn't even know when she had started crying, but her cheeks were damp with tears.

By the time she reached Joseph's side, her emotions had settled.

Joseph gave her a quiet look. From an angle where no one else could see, he gently took her hand and held it tenderly.

Vivica trusted her husband, so she didn't read the new agreement too closely. She just skimmed through it. "This works. Let's just sign it like this."
