"Besides, Mr. Baird probably doesn't want you moving to Sydville City either, right? You two would be long-distance, and he definitely wouldn't be able to handle that."
Vivica thought about how incredibly clingy a certain someone was and felt her face warm up even in broad daylight. "Yeah, he definitely wouldn't want that."
"Then just have your cousin take over. You can keep your shares and collect the dividends. It's not like you're short on cash; there's no need to take on all that stress."
Quintina was right.
Vivica had been thinking the exact same thing.
When the time came, she was going to have a serious talk with Raymond.
Before they could finish their conversation, Vivica's phone buzzed with another incoming call.
Seeing an unknown number from Sydville City, her stomach dropped.
Talk about speaking of the devil.
"Quintina, I have another call coming in, I gotta go." She gave her friend a quick heads-up, stared at the new caller ID, hesitated for a second, and then swiped to answer.
Bringing the phone to her ear, she said softly, "Hello?"
"Hello, Ms. Lynn. This is Mr. Goodman, the lawyer for Hillary and Mr. Chase. We met at the hospital last time."
He introduced himself politely, and hearing the familiar voice, it clicked for Vivica.
"Oh, right. I remember, Mr. Goodman."
"Yes. I'm calling to inform you that all the paperwork regarding the asset transfer from your parents has been finalized. You should be receiving some notifications today, so please keep an eye out."
Vivica was shocked.
Since returning from Sydville City, she had completely forgotten about this.
"Okay, I understand. Thank you for your help."
"You're very welcome, Ms. Lynn."
After hanging up, Vivica's feelings were complicated.
She hadn't kept close track of the various real estate and liquid assets, only remembering that nearly half of it had been split with Raymond.
She had never lusted after this money, so she hadn't paid close attention.
"That should be about right. Now that you've received it, you should probably let them know," Joseph suggested.
"Yeah, I know. I'll... make a call later."
Even though she didn't want to, there was no avoiding it.
Knowing she was probably overthinking things and feeling anxious, Joseph deliberately changed the subject to tease her. "You're a bona fide millionaire now, with an eight-figure net worth. As long as you don't blow it all, you couldn't spend this much money in several lifetimes. Looks like I'll be riding my rich wife's coattails from now on."
That managed to get a laugh out of Vivica, but given she was in the office, she had to stifle it.
"Alright, enough. I'm at work. We'll talk when we get home."
Honestly, she had been thinking about how to manage these massive funds over the past few days, but she just hadn't had a chance to sit down and talk it over with Joseph.
Now that her biological parents' assets were officially in her name, having so much money sitting in an account actually made her feel uneasy—it was time to make a plan.
