The IVF Secret That Shook a Dynasty novel Chapter 584

Harvey couldn't hold back his schadenfreude, endlessly relishing the ex-husband's misfortune.

Joseph's expression darkened as he listened. "Are you an idiot? You're sitting right in front of her current husband, and you just keep going on and on about my wife's ex?"

Harvey chuckled. "Look at you, getting all defensive and petty. I'm the one talking about him, not your wife. Besides, I'm just enjoying the karma of it all."

No matter what the reasoning was, Mr. Baird had absolutely no desire to hear it.

He fully admitted he was being petty.

In the past, he never would have imagined himself being this territorial. But now he realized that when you loved someone so fiercely, the last thing you wanted was to hear her name mentioned in the same breath as any other man.

Even if it was an ex from the past.

Fortunately, Vivica's phone call interrupted their conversation.

"Hey, sweetheart," Joseph answered. That single term of endearment sent a dramatic shiver down Harvey's spine, prompting him to mimic, "Sweetheart, ugh!"

Joseph shot him a lethal glare, taking his phone and walking away.

Vivica had finished her blood work and was currently getting her ultrasound. The technician had made a stunning discovery, and Vivica desperately wanted her husband to see it for himself.

"Do you want to see our little sprout? Come to the ultrasound room if you do," Vivica said, fighting to keep her voice level despite her overwhelming excitement.

Just as she expected, the lawyer's eyes lit up instantly. "I can go in and look?"

"Of course! Hurry!"

"On my way!" Joseph replied. He hung up, turned right back to the office, and demanded, "Which way is the ultrasound room?"

Harvey looked confused. "What's wrong? Is something the matter with your wife?"

"No, she just wants me to come look at the baby."

While the two grown men were bickering at the door like grade-schoolers, the ultrasound technician reacted swiftly, pulling the drape up to properly cover Vivica's lower half.

Because it was so early in the pregnancy, a transvaginal ultrasound was standard to get a clear picture. Even though medical professionals were trained to be entirely objective, they still took the necessary precautions to maintain a patient's modesty and avoid any potential awkwardness, especially with male doctors present.

Vivica certainly hadn't expected Harvey to tag along.

When she heard their voices at the door, her heart had jumped into her throat. Thank goodness the technician had moved fast to cover her up, allowing her to finally exhale.

"Joseph!" Vivica called out as he walked in, then glanced over. "Harvey, you're here too."

Seeing the drape pulled over her, Harvey suddenly remembered that early ultrasounds were done transvaginally. A wave of awkwardness washed over him.

As a medical professional, forgetting such basic procedure was embarrassing. He'd been too busy arguing with his friend to think straight.

"Ahem." Harvey brought a fist to his mouth and cleared his throat, trying to dispel the tension. "I... I just wanted to make sure everything looked perfect, so I came over with Joseph."
