The IVF Secret That Shook a Dynasty novel Chapter 95

Vivica pressed her lips together and fell silent.

The luxury car continued smoothly toward the hospital. Joseph made another call, clearly delegating tasks to a subordinate since he could no longer make his appointment.

"Mr. Baird, I'm really sorry for all the trouble today."

"It's nothing," Joseph replied.

When they arrived at the hospital, Joseph parked the car, then shrugged off his suit jacket and handed it to her. Vivica just stared at it, not taking it.

Their relationship, when it came down to it, wasn't even one of friendship; they were lawyer and client. A woman wearing a man's jacket felt like something between lovers. Even if that wasn't the case, it still felt far too intimate.

Joseph saw her hesitating and his brow tightened. "You don't need it?" He jutted his chin toward the bustling hospital entrance. "There are a lot of people out there."

It was lunchtime, and the lobby was packed with family members coming and going, crowding the elevators.

Vivica's face flushed crimson. She understood his kindness and was deeply grateful. "Thank you..."

She took the jacket. It still held his body heat and his scent—a crisp, clean fragrance that was both refined and distinguished. It made her heart beat a little faster. Clutching the fabric, her face practically steaming, she looked at him. "Mr. Baird, could you please get out of the car first?"

Joseph was puzzled. "Why?"

"Well... just please get out first."

Vivica felt like she was on fire, and the dull ache in her abdomen made the situation feel utterly unbearable.

"Ahem..." It was his first time dealing with a situation like this, and he felt just as awkward. He cleared his throat. "Look... don't worry about cleaning it. I'll take it to a shop later for a deep clean."

Vivica froze and looked up at him, her cheeks feeling as if they could start a fire. "Mr. Baird, I'm so, so sorry, I..."

She was so mortified her tongue felt tied.

Seeing how flushed her face was, Joseph understood her acute embarrassment and offered a small smile. "It's okay. I'm not blaming you."

On the contrary, seeing her crouched in the cramped space, red-faced and flustered, was actually... interesting.

His life was so orderly, so serious. The women he interacted with were always polished and elegant, seemingly perfect without a single flaw. To suddenly have such a real, down-to-earth person in his life—someone who was both resilient and vividly human—was a novel experience for him.
