"Get out of the car," Joseph said, his tone softening slightly. "I have other things to do, and I'm running late."

Vivica felt a fresh wave of embarrassment. He had set aside his work to bring her back, and she was holding him up. She quickly scrambled out of the car.

Joseph was well over six feet tall, so on Vivica, who stood at about five-foot-five, his suit jacket looked more like a trench coat, perfectly concealing the stain on her pants. She clutched the jacket, her body still feeling feverish with humiliation. "About the car detailing fee, I'll transfer you the money later."

Joseph smiled again. As he leaned back into the car, he tossed a final remark over his shoulder. "I'm representing you pro bono, and you think I'm going to charge you for a car wash?"

Vivica was left speechless. She stood there, one hand pressed to her burning cheek, watching his car drive away.

Inside the car, Joseph drove steadily, his eyes flicking to the empty passenger seat. For some reason, a small smile played on his lips.

Vivica went back to the room. Ruby wasn't there, probably having gone downstairs for a walk. Good, that saved her from another round of awkwardness. She carefully took off Joseph's jacket and hung it on a hanger. Though it wasn't soiled, she decided she would take it to the dry cleaners that afternoon.

After cleaning herself up in the bathroom and changing into fresh clothes, her lower abdomen still felt bloated and uncomfortable. But a glance at the clock told her it was time to pick up Chaim from the North Wing.

In Melanie's room in the North Wing, lunch was in full swing. The elderly couple was beaming as they sat with Chaim. Although Vivica had raised Chaim to be independent and he could eat by himself, his grandparents couldn't resist the urge to feed him.

The family's butler saw Vivica arrive and quickly asked if she had eaten.

"Not yet. I just came to get Chaim for lunch."

"There's no need. Mrs. and Mr. Baird are eating with him now. Please, Ms. Lynn, join them."
