The Last Time I Cried Your Name novel Chapter 191

She did her best to avoid anything that might catch Franco’s disapproving eye.

The nanny gave Franco a pleading look, then lowered her voice. “Franco, could you please talk to Laura? She insists on eating at the table, but every time she gets out of bed, she gets dizzy.”

Laura half expected Franco to feel sorry for her, maybe even let her stay in bed to eat.

But Franco just sat on the sofa with his paperwork, not even glancing up. He coughed into his fist a few times. “It’s a good habit,” he said.

Laura lowered her gaze, a faint smile barely tugging at her lips.

Of course. No one in this world could make him bend his rules.

The nanny lifted her into the wheelchair and rolled her over to the dining table.

While Laura tried to eat, Jay had to step out for a call. Laura gave the nanny a look, and the nanny picked up on it right away. She quietly slipped out of the room and shut the door behind her, a proud little smile on her face as she stood guard outside.

Laura poked at her porridge, which tasted way too sweet. Honestly, she had no appetite. Still, Franco had arranged this meal for her, so she didn’t want to waste it.

She took another spoonful. The room was quiet except for Franco’s coughs on the other side.

She tightened her grip on the spoon. “Franco, are you coming down with something?” she asked, a bit worried.

Just then, Franco’s phone buzzed from his pocket.

Right as Laura spoke, he pulled out his phone to check the message.

She watched him stand up suddenly, then turn on his heel and stride out of the room. To her, his steps looked just a little bit unsteady.

Aaron steered the car into a fancy, gated neighborhood.

Hans owned a place here. Aaron was the one who usually came to grab things, so the security guards knew him.

He parked and glanced over at Petty. “J keeps to himself unless he’s called out for a job. If he weren’t teaching you self-defense and how to shoot, he’d probably hole up in that apartment for weeks at a time.”

Petty unbuckled her seatbelt. “So he’s a total homebody then.”
