THE LUNA WHO CONQUERED DEATH

Chapter 29: Fire and Blood

Twenty minutes later, we were on the road.

Two vehicles packed with warriors: Marcus, Lusas, Adrian, Elena, and twelve of our best fighters. Katherine stayed behind to protect the school and the pack.

Claim

Marcus drove like a demon, his face carved from stone. Through our pack bonds, I could feel his terror for Diana. The mate bonded with them, screaming with her fear and pain.

How far?I asked.

Two hours at this speed. His knuckles were white on the steering wheel. “She’s still alive. I can feel her. But barely.

We’ll get there in time.

You can’t promise that.

No. But I can promise we’ll fight like hell to make it true.

Adrian sat beside me in the back, checking weapons and tactical gear. Intelligence says forty hostiles, maybe more. Harrison’s elite fighters. This isn’t a raid. It’s a massacre.

Then we stop the massacre.I looked at Elena. Your tracking ability. Can you sense the attackers from a distance?

If I’ve met them before, yes. But these are probably wolves I’ve never encountered.

Worth trying anyway. We need every advantage.

Lucas spoke up from the passenger seat. I know their tactics. Harrison drills his coalition forces personally. They favor overwhelming force, strike fast and hard, leave no survivors.

Γ

Except this time, they didn’t account for backup arriving.I felt power building under my skin, silver light threatening to break free. This time, they’re the ones who’ll be overwhelmed.

We arrived in chaos.

Clearwater Pack’s territory was burning. Homes on fire, wolves fighting in the streets, the scent of blood and smoke overwhelming everything.

There!Marcus pointed to the Pack House, where a cluster of defenders was making their last stand. Diana stood at the center, blonde and fierce, holding off three attackers at once.

We hit them like a silver storm.

I shifted midleap, my white wolf tearing into the nearest hostile. Adrian was beside me, his hybrid

strength devastating. Marcus fought like a wolf possessed, cutting a path straight to Diana.

Claim

Elena and Lucas coordinated the warriors, turning our smaller numbers into a tactical advantage. We were outnumbered, but we were fighting for something more than orders

We were fighting for family.

I took down two attackers, then three. My daughter’s gifts flared, bond manipulation letting me sense their pack connections and sever them temporarily. Without their pack strength, they were just ordinary wolves. Ordinary wolves against an Alpha who’d conquered death.

The tide turned quickly. Harrison’s forces hadn’t expected resistance, especially not from Crescent Moon. Within twenty minutes, half of them were down or fleeing.

The other half regrouped around their leader, a massive gray wolf recognized from intelligence photos. Beta Coleman, Harrison’s secondincommand.

He shifted back to human form, bloodied and furious.

Alpha Sera. How convenient. Save us a trip to your territory.

Beta Coleman. You’re making a mess of my ally’s home.I shifted back as well, standing naked and unconcerned in the firelight. I’d like you to leave. Now.

Or what? You’ll kill us all?he laughed. You’re outnumbered, pregnant, and soft. Everyone knows the great Alpha Sera shows mercy to her enemies.

That’s true. I do show mercy.I let the silver light flare around me. But you’re not my enemy. You’re my enemy’s weapon. And I don’t show mercy to weapons.”

I moved fast, daughter’s speed, and had my hand around his throat before he could react.

Here’s what’s going to happen,I said quietly, loud enough for all his remaining fighters to hear. You’re

going to retreat. You’re going to tell Harrison that Clearwater Pack is under my protection. And you’re

going to spread the word that anyone who attacks reformed packs answers to me.

And if I refuse?

Γ

Then I demonstrated why the Council feared Selene’s Daughters.I let power flow through my hand,

bonded magic wrapping around him. I could kill you. That would be easy. Or I could do something worse.

I could sever your pack bonds permanently. Leave you wolven but packless, belonging nowhere,

connected to nothing. A lone wolf until you die.

His eyes widened with genuine terror. For wolves, being packless was worse than death.
