Episode 37-2
“We answer carefully. Genetic research on primates, rare medical conditions, whatever plausible explanation keeps the full truth hidden.” He touched my hand. “But we have to do something. Staying silent just lets the next Pierce operate freely.”
He was right. The old approach, hiding and hoping humans never discovered us, had failed. The Covenant proved that.
“Okay. We go public. But carefully.” I looked at Luna again. “And we make sure our daughter’s name is nowhere in those files.”
“Already done. I scrubbed every reference to
her from Pierce’s data.” Adrian’s voice softened. “The world doesn’t need to know about Luna. Not yet. Not until she’s old enough to choose whether to hide or reveal herself.”
A knock at the door. Mar
entered, looking exhausted but determined.
“Alpha. We’ve finished prisoner interrogation on our end too. I think you need to hear this.”
We moved to a private conference room, leaving Luna with Dr. Moira. Katherine, Elena, and Diana were
already there, faces grim.
“What did you find?” I asked.
Marcus activated a recording. A Hunter’s voice, broken and defeated, answered questions.
“How many cells does the Covenant have worldwide?”
“Forty–seven. But only twelve are combat focused/The rest are research, intelligence, recruitment.”
“What’s the primary objective?”
“Elimination of supernatural threats to human dominance. We’re told that werewolves, vampires, witches… you’re all evolutionary dead ends. Humanity’s destiny is to absorb your strengths and eliminate your
weaknesses.”
Γ
“Who funds the operation?”
“Multiple sources. Apex Industries was the largest, but there are others. Pharmaceutical companies, defense contractors, wealthy individuals who believe in human superiority.”
“What was planned after the Crescent Moon attack?”
“Escalation. If we succeeded here, the next targets were the larger reformed packs. Clearwater, Mountain Ridge, all of them. Wipe out the progressive movement, make an example of anyone who challenged traditional hierarchy.”
The recording continued, revealing cell locations, names of operatives, and planned attacks.
“This is worse than we thought,” Katherine said when it ended. “They weren’t just targeting daughters. They

wanted to eliminate the entire reform movement”
“Because we proved supernatural beings could change,” I said. “Could evolve beyond the old hierarchies.
That threatened their narrative that we’re evolutionary dead ends.”
“So what do we do?” Diana asked. “Even with this intelligence, we can’t fight forty–seven cells simultaneously.”
“We don’t fight them,” I looked at Adrian. “We destroy their support structure. Cut off funding, expose their operations, force them into the light where they can’t operate.”
“I can handle the financial attacks,” Adrian said. “Freeze their accounts, expose their corporate backers, make it toxic to support them.”
“I’ll coordinate with other daughters,” Katherine offered. “If the Covenant is targeting all supernatural beings, we need to warn everyone. Create a united front.”
“And I’ll work with the reformed packs,” Diana added. “Build a real coalition, not just an alliance. Shared resources, coordinated defense, mutual support.”
“What about the prisoners?” Marcus asked. “We have seventeen enhanced soldiers and twelve regular
Hunters. Council law says we should hand them over for trial.”
“The Council is compromised,” I said flatly. “We don’t know how deep Covenant infiltration goes. For all we
know, half the Council members are on their payroll.”
“So do we hold them ourselves?”
“For now. Until we’re sure we can hand them over without them being quietly released or disappearing.” I stood, wincing slightly. The healing from Luna’s power had been miraculous but incomplete, “Marcus, upgraded security on the prisoner holding. No visitors without my direct approval.”
“Done.”
“Katherine, I need you to examine the enhanced soldiers. Figure out what they did, how the transformation
works, if it can be reversed.”
“You want to cure them?”
[
“I want to understand them. Know your enemy and all that.” I moved toward the door. “Meeting adjourned.
We have work to do.”
That evening, I sat with Luna in our quarters, Adrian beside me.
“She has your eyes,” he said, watching her.
“She has your stubbornness. Refused to eat for Dr. Moira earlier, then ate perfectly fine for me.”
“Smart girl. Already knows who’s in charge.” He smiled, then grew serious. “Sera, are you okay? Really okay? You died three days ago. Technically died. Then Luna brought you back.”

I’m processing.” I looked at our daughter, at this impossible miracle we’d created. “Every time I close my eyes, I see the battlefield. The wolves we lost. The students who had to fight. Luna was born too early because I pushed too hard.”
