Lucia Beaumont had been asleep the entire time.

Having just crossed back into the world of the living and dispelled the deathly aura from Physician Finch, her energy was severely depleted.

Celeste and Celia had not even met her yet since being sent over. The two maids simply guarded the courtyard, refusing to let anyone from House Beaumont disturb Lucia's rest.

They already knew Lady Lucia had been gravely injured. Physician Finch had treated her and instructed them to let her rest peacefully, ordering that she should not be disturbed unless she developed a fever.

Lucia suddenly jolted awake.

She opened her eyes, pushed herself out of bed, and walked barefoot to the window. Pushing it open, she stared at the gloomy sky and murmured a single phrase.

"The Sovereign Star's Light Fails."

At that moment, unseen storm clouds surged, the invisible currents of fate clashed, and signs of chaos manifested.

Lucia furrowed her brow, feeling a pang of worry.

She might have gained a second chance at life, but she now realized the telluric currents of The Kingdom of Valerius were dangerously unstable.

She absolutely loathed war and turmoil.

"Lady Lucia!"

Given the urgency, Azure had bypassed the manor's guards entirely, slipping silently into Sunstone Pavilion.

The moment he vaulted into the courtyard, Celeste and Celia blocked his path, only to freeze when they recognized him.

Azure looked up, spotted Lucia standing by the window, and spoke urgently. "Prince Jareth ordered me to escort you to the palace, Lady Lucia."

In truth, Azure did not understand. The old king was gravely ill, and countless court physicians were helpless. What could Lady Lucia possibly do? She was severely injured herself.

Celeste and Celia looked up as well, startled that they had not noticed she was awake or standing by the open window. They had no idea how long she had been there.

"Please dress quickly and come with me to the palace," Azure urged.

Although he did not grasp the reason, the prince always had his motives, and Azure's only duty was to obey.

"Is someone dying in the palace?" Lucia asked.

Azure was struck with a terrifying shock. How did she know?

Was she not just some little country girl who had recently returned to the capital?
