The Steward watched Celia lead Physician Finch toward Sunstone Pavilion, stamping his foot in sheer frustration.
Lucia had slept deeply for two or three days, and her energy was finally beginning to return.
Bonnie stood by her side, chatting away.
"I don't know what got into Lady Beaumont last night, but she sent two maids over. They said they were here to give you a massage, and they even brought some fragrant petals to serve you a bath. They claimed the petals were a past reward from a princess, items from the palace that you had never experienced before."
She and Celia had turned them away twice already.
Given how terribly Lady Beaumont had treated Lucia before, this sudden show of goodwill was incredibly suspicious.
Besides, Lucia had been asleep the entire time; there was no way she was going to get out of bed just to take a bath.
"She is up to no good," Lucia stated simply.
"Exactly."
"My Lady, Physician Finch is here."
Hearing that Physician Finch had arrived, a glimmer crossed Lucia's eyes. "Bring him in."
Physician Finch entered and, upon catching sight of Lucia, let out a sound of surprise. "You look remarkably better, my lady."
It was quite obvious.
Lucia's previously pale complexion finally had a healthy, radiant glow.
"I must thank Lady Yvette Finch for the nourishing tonics she sent."
Lady Yvette Finch had sent an abundance of medicinal meals. Yesterday, she even had a servant deliver a pot of rich broth. They said it had been simmered with ten different herbs for ten hours, requiring precise additions and heat control. Fearing Celia and Bonnie wouldn't know how to prepare it, she had simmered it herself at home before sending it over.
That pot of broth was truly excellent for restoring one's vitality.
Lucia appreciated the gesture.
"You saved her son. It was merely a token of her gratitude. Think nothing of it."
Physician Finch waved his hand dismissively, then looked at her with intense curiosity. "My lady, do you happen to know what is afflicting Lady Eleonora?"
The old healer, widely known for his terrible temper, was now eagerly awaiting Lucia's answer like a student.
"Lady Eleonora?"
