The Man Who Never Looked Away novel Chapter 321

Garnett stood by the window, looking at the lights of the farm in the valley opposite.

That should be the farm of Lavinia's friend.

Joel walked over and stood beside him, looking out the window: "What are you thinking about?"

"I never thought things would turn out like this." Garnett's voice was muffled.

Joel glanced at him: "Really?"

Garnett looked at him: "What do you want to say?"

Joel sighed: "To be honest, I don't understand you. From your past behavior, I thought you wanted to divorce Lavinia a long time ago."

Garnett froze: "When did I ever show any intention of wanting to divorce her?"

"Didn't you? Everyone around you thinks so, and I'm afraid even Lavinia thinks so."

Garnett stared at Joel, pronouncing each word clearly: "To avoid getting a divorce, I spent seven figures to hire the best lawyer."

Joel was speechless.

After a long time, he sighed: "Garnett, to be honest, you are quite immature when it comes to relationships."

Garnett's jawline suddenly tightened, and he abruptly turned and walked out.

Joel followed: "Where are you going?"

"I'm going over to find her." Garnett said with a gloomy face.

Joel grabbed him: "Walking the mountain road at night? From here to there, some places are not accessible by car. It's very dangerous to walk at night."

Garnett shook off Joel's hand, put one hand in his pocket and walked out.

Joel sighed and continued to follow: "I'll go with you."

Garnett glanced at him.

Joel said: "I have a good relationship with Saul and Lavinia. You need someone who can help you bridge the gap."

At the other end of the yard, Charley and Saul were squatting in front of a half-human-high charcoal stove.

Saul puffed his cheeks and blew air into the stove. Thick smoke rushed out, choking him so much that he turned his face away.

"You're doing it wrong." Charley crumpled newspapers into a ball and stuffed them under the charcoal pile, then added a few thin branches, "Start the fire first, then add the charcoal."

"You think you're so smart." Saul shoved the fire tongs into his hands.

Charley took the tongs, rearranged the charcoal blocks, then lowered his head and blew a few breaths into the stove. Sparks shot up, and the flames climbed up along the gaps between the charcoal blocks.

"Done." He stood up and dusted the ashes off his hands.

Saul squatted next to him and snorted.

Jocelyn's voice came from the house: "Whose guitar is this?"

Jimmie didn't even look up: "I forgot. It's been left here for a long time, nobody's touched it."
