The Man Who Waited vs. The Man Who Wasted novel Chapter 100

Just as she got in the car, a call came from Diana Evans.

"I was just passing by, so I thought I'd drop in and see my in-laws."

It took Jocelyn a moment to process. "What do you mean?"

"What do you think I mean? We're almost at your house."

A jolt of alarm shot through Jocelyn

"Why are you going to Oakhaven Estates!"

"What are you so worked up about? Isn't it normal for in-laws to visit each other? Besides, your husband helped us out so much. I should come and thank him in person."

Jocelyn started the car in a panic.

If the truth about the six billion came out, she would be in serious trouble.

Both sides would demand to know where such a large sum of money came from.

In her haste, Jocelyn almost ran a red light.

When she got home, Diana was sitting in the living room.

Beside her was Jeremy.

Keeping them company was Eleanor.

Seeing Jocelyn return, Eleanor lifted her eyelids, her voice deliberately soft.

"Speak of the devil. Jocelyn, we were just talking about you."

Jocelyn walked over, her heart pounding with anxiety.

"Mom, why didn't you call before coming over?"

Diana, dressed in expensive clothes, said, "I was just passing by and thought I'd stop in."

Jocelyn frowned slightly. "Mom, you should have called."

"This child of mine."

Diana wanted to scold her, but remembering she was at the Lowell's, she held her tongue.

"Grandma doesn't mind. Why are you making such a fuss?"

Jocelyn glanced at Eleanor.

She looked so kind and gentle.

Claire reluctantly turned around.

But when she looked at Diana and Jeremy, her gaze was filled with disdain.

Claire mumbled awkwardly.

"Hello."

Then she ran off.

Eleanor smoothed things over. "That child... we've spoiled her."

Diana graciously provided an out.

"Compared to our Jeremy, Claire is so much more sensible."

Jeremy pouted, a shadow crossing his eyes.

He had just seen Claire deliberately bump into Jocelyn as she passed.

And her eyes were filled with defiance. Not an ounce of respect for her sister-in-law.

It seemed his sister's life with the Lowells wasn't as happy as their mother claimed.
