The Man Who Waited vs. The Man Who Wasted novel Chapter 205

"I still can't believe Adrian actually hooked up with his own brother's wife," Diana gossiped.

"Why didn't you tell me something that huge?"

"And this divorce... are you really going through with it?"

"You need to think this through. Once you leave the Lowell family, you'll be an absolute nobody. You'll have nothing."

Jocelyn looked at her own pale, paper-thin reflection in the mirror, suddenly feeling a wave of sorrow for the baby in her womb.

This poor little life was already suffering so much just by being attached to her.

"Don't you worry about me," Jocelyn said flatly. "Even if I end up begging on the streets, I won't come begging to you."

Diana looked relieved.

"Good. Remember you said that. Don't come crawling back when reality hits."

Jocelyn's heart was completely dead to this woman.

"I said what I said."

Satisfied, Diana turned to leave.

But when she reached the door, she stopped and looked back.

"Jo..."

Jocelyn heard a rare hint of conflict in her voice, but she ignored it.

This place had broken her heart completely.

The name Diana Evans was practically a nightmare to her now.

Diana looked at her meaningfully. "No matter what happens, don't blame me."

Jocelyn assumed Diana was just running her mouth again and didn't give it a second thought.

Jocelyn only took two things of Marcus's.

A pen and a small stuffed animal.

The pen was a birthday gift Jocelyn had bought for him using her very first scholarship check.

She hadn't realized he had cherished it and kept it all these years.

And the stuffed animal was a prize Jocelyn had won at a carnival shooting game when Marcus had taken her out for the day.

He had treasured that, too.

Looking at the two items, tears threatened to spill again.

It took everything she had to hold them back.

When she walked out of The Crestview Residence, she never looked back.

She would never return to this place again.

Back at The Astoria.

Maria's voice rang out from the living room.

A few minutes later, Julian replied.

[I just happened to be passing by.]

Jocelyn highly doubted that, but she didn't press the issue.

[It looks like you bought out the entire restaurant.]

Julian: [I just didn't want to wait in line.]

Jocelyn: [So you just bought every single rib they had? And the owner actually let you?]

Julian: [I paid double.]

Jocelyn: ...

What could she even say?

That was a serious billionaire flex.

Before Jocelyn could type a reply, her phone suddenly rang.

"Hello, Miss Evans. This is Mr. Chase from Summit Law Firm. I'm calling regarding the last will and testament your father left before he passed. Could you please come down to our office so we can discuss it?"

Jocelyn listened in stunned silence.

Her father's will?

"Miss Evans, I'd highly prefer we discuss this in person, so please come in as soon as possible. This is extremely important."
