The Man Who Waited vs. The Man Who Wasted novel Chapter 36

And Jocelyn had met the boss of this debt collection agency, Ron 'The Badger', once before.

To be precise, Ron owed Jocelyn a favor.

Two years ago, all the important data on Ron's computer was lost.

It was a matter of life and death, and Ron was frantic.

Because the data was sensitive, Ron had searched for a computer expert online.

As it happened, Jocelyn was bored and came across the post, so she took the job.

For her, it was a piece of cake.

But for Ron, she had saved his life.

So Ron had left her with a message: if you ever need anything, just ask.

But Jocelyn had used a fake name at the time.

So Ron had no idea that Jocelyn was Marcus Evans's daughter.

The leader had to re-evaluate the woman in front of him.

She was composed, and she had guts. And she was as beautiful as an angel. A rare woman indeed.

And the fact that she knew his boss's secret nickname made him wary.

Jocelyn got back to business. "Give me two days. I'll pay you back the six hundred million, every last cent."

The leader was skeptical. "Are you sure? Two days?"

"Yes, two days."

"Why should I believe you?"

"Because my home is here, and my parents are here. If I go back on my word, you have plenty of ways to deal with me."

The man thought for a moment. "Alright! Two days it is. I'll trust you this one time."

Jocelyn took out her wallet and pulled out all the cash she had.

But that only made Marcus feel worse.

He knew that Jocelyn was actually trying to hide her true self. She didn't want anyone to see her vulnerable side.

"Dad, Mom, I'm leaving. I have a reunion tonight."

Before Diana could ask her question, Jocelyn grabbed her bag and left.

Diana was not pleased.

"Does that girl even see me as her mother? She just leaves like that? Is there something wrong with this house? Is that why she can't stand to be here?"

"A reunion? She's actually in the mood to go to a reunion!"

Marcus sighed. "What more do you want from her! It's six hundred million dollars. We've let her shoulder that burden all by herself."

Marcus was deeply moved.

"Our family is falling apart, and the only one helping us is a daughter who shares none of our blood. Diana, never forget that we owe this girl a debt we can never repay, starting from the very day you brought her home."
