Liam approached, a bright smile on his face. "What are you two beautiful ladies saying about me?"
Sarah looked Liam up and down, taking in his designer casual wear.
"Liam, you're looking very youthful tonight."
Liam's smile was a little roguish. "I'll always be that carefree, handsome man."
Sarah snorted. "Still as shameless as ever, I see."
Liam's gaze fell on Jocelyn. "So distant? You're not even going to say hello?"
Jocelyn gave a faint smile. "Long time no see."
Liam sat down next to her, crossing his legs.
"I'm planning to expand my business to Northwood City. Are you going to welcome me?"
Jocelyn said, "The people of Northwood City will be very happy to have you contribute to the local GDP, Liam."
Liam said, "I don't care about other people. I just want to know if our dear Jo will welcome me."
Sarah kicked Liam. "Move over."
Then she sat down between them.
"Liam Bancroft, are you trying to get yourself killed? Don't you know Jo is a married woman? You'd better cut out the flirting, or I'll castrate you."
"Tsk," Liam laughed instead of getting angry. "My flirting has nothing to do with my sincere feelings for our Jo. Besides, so what if she's a married woman? There will always be a place for our Jo in my heart."
Jocelyn pursed her lips and said sternly, "Liam, that's enough."
Liam was taken aback for a couple of seconds. "Can't take a joke? No fun."
Sarah said, "You needed Jo to put you in your place."
Liam was the one who had started a business with Jocelyn back in college.
He was a year ahead of her and was her senior.
He had the perfect image of a rich, playboy heir.
But Jocelyn and the others knew better.
That was just a rebellious facade that Liam deliberately put on.
In reality, he was a top-tier investor.
Once everyone had arrived, the atmosphere became lively.
With old friends reunited, it was inevitable that some would pressure others to drink.
Jocelyn thought, "well, I'm going to get rid of the baby in my belly soon anyway, so a little drink won't hurt."
But Liam snatched her glass and drank it for her.
After a few rounds, Liam was already starting to feel lightheaded.
By the time the dinner ended, he was completely disoriented.
Sarah asked, "What should we do? Just leave him here?"
Jocelyn's conscience kicked in. "He got this drunk for me."
Sarah suggested, "Take him to a hotel?"
Jocelyn was about to answer when she saw a familiar car pull up on the side of the road.
The car door opened, and Adrian Lowell got out.
