The Man Who Waited vs. The Man Who Wasted novel Chapter 43

After replying to the text, Jocelyn turned off her phone and went to sleep.

She slept soundly.

The next morning, she turned her phone back on, and a flood of messages popped up.

Seeing they were from Adrian, she didn't even bother to read them, deleting them all directly.

As she reached the last message, her finger froze on the screen. For a long moment, she couldn't process what she was seeing.

A deposit of two hundred and fifty million dollars had appeared in her account.

The sender: Julian Vance.

It hadn't come from a corporate account, but a personal one.

And to have received such a massive sum so quickly, he must have had to pull some strings with the bank.

Jocelyn took the initiative and called Julian.

The phone rang for a moment before he picked up. His voice, slightly hoarse, came through the line.

"What's up?"

"I got the money."

"Good."

"Why did it come from your personal account?"

"Transferring funds without a contract goes against company policy. I couldn't break the rules, so I had to use my personal account for now."

Jocelyn marveled internally: This was a man who was truly, seriously rich.

"I'm so sorry, I've really put you through a lot of trouble this time. When are you free? I can come and sign the contract."

"Let's do it in a couple of days," Julian said. "After I get back from the branch office."

Jocelyn was silent for a few seconds.

"Something on your mind?" Julian asked.

Jocelyn smiled faintly. "You've done me such a huge favor. I can't just let it go without any sort of repayment."

"If you could join Vanguard Tech, that would be the greatest repayment of all," Julian said. "But I admit, that sounds a little greedy."

Jocelyn chuckled. "It would be my honor to join Vanguard Tech. I hadn't considered it before, but now, maybe I will."

A bitter smile touched Jocelyn's heart.

"Yes. Is the loan agreement ready?"

Diana's gloomy expression vanished. "It's been ready for ages, just waiting for your funds to arrive."

"Let's sign it first."

Diana let out a sigh of relief. "I didn't expect Adrian to actually be willing to help us. Jo, you certainly have a lot of sway with him."

Jocelyn didn't want to elaborate. "Let's sign."

Diana ran into the study and brought out the contract, a rare, gentle look on her face.

"Are you sure Adrian will agree to these repayment terms?"

The contract stipulated that the six hundred million could be paid back over ten years.

Even in its diminished state, the Evans family was still wealthy. This was a non-issue for them.

Jocelyn didn't answer, simply picked up a pen and signed her name.

"Give me the account number for the loan sharks. I'll wire the money to them. Don't worry, they won't be coming to cause trouble anymore."
