The MC President's Forsaken Wife (Zara and Knox) novel Chapter 371

Chapter 183-2

Dr. Innis smiles, hands me a small paper sleeve containing the ultrasound photos. “You’ve spent enough time in medical offices worrying about survival, Zara. It’s time for you to enjoy living. You’ve got a wonderful, healthy pregnancy ahead of you. Out of curiosity, what are your plans for the next few months? Just taking it easy?”

A soft, mischievous chuckle escapes my chest as I glance up at Locke, whose towering silhouette is standing beside me, looking down at the ultrasound photos in my hand.

“Taking it easy?” I say, looking back at Dr. Innis. “Not quite. My life is a bit of a chaotic adventure, honestly. We’ve got a penthouse to renovate, a baby crib to forge out of steel, and a whole motorcycle club full of tough guys who don’t even know they’re about to become a grandfather and a bunch of uncles yet.”

Dr. Innis lets out a bright, delighted laugh, her eyes crinkling at the corners. “Steel cribs and an MC club full of uncles? Well, why on earth not? A life full of adventure is the best kind of life to bring a baby into.”

“I totally agree.”

“Keep eating well, stay hydrated, keep taking your prenatal vitamins, and I’ll see you back here in two weeks for your twelve–week scan. If you need anything before then – anything at all you call my office directly.”

“We will,” Locke speaks for the first time. “Thank you, Doctor.”

Dr. Innis nods toward him. “It was a pleasure meeting you both. Congratulations.”

Ten minutes later, we step out through the glass doors of the medical center into the crisp, cool afternoon air. The sky above is a clear, pale blue, the bright winter sunlight washing over the pavement and sparkling off the windshields in the lot.

Locke walking beside me carries an energy that feels totally transformed. The heavy, protective tension that usually sits square on his broad shoulders seems lighter, replaced by a grounded, towering presence that seems to push the rest of the world aside.

As we reach the truck parked in the side lot, Locke opens the passenger door for me, but instead of letting me climb right in, he catches my waist, turning me around so my back rests gently against the side of the cab.

He steps right up to me, boxing me in with his massive frame, blocking the cool breeze completely. He looks down at me, his eyes burning with that raw, unshielded devotion that always makes my heart stutter in my chest.

He reaches out, his broad hand slipping inside my open coat to rest flat, warm, and heavy over my lower stomach… right over the tiny life that is officially ten weeks old.

“We brought us through it,” I correct him gently. “Together.”

“Let’s do it. I want to watch you act completely normal around everyone while holding onto the biggest secret in the building.”

Locke grunts, a low rumble of amusement in his chest as he shuts my door and walks around to the driver’s side. He hauls his bulk into the cab, and says, “Normal is easy, baby. Keeping Mayhem from asking why I’m smiling is going to be the fucking hard part.”

“You’re smiling?” I inquire, leaning across the center console as he cranks the engine to life.”

You?”

“I’m considering it,” Locke grunts, though the shadow of a smirk tugs at his lips as he pulls out of the medical center lot and heads toward the highway. “And if I do smile, it’s just for you

two.”
