Unexpected Confession
25 Point
The days that followed became a torment measured not in hours but in fragments of sleep, unanswered questions, and the increasingly dangerous silence that surrounded the disappearance of Iva, because every morning Caleb returned to the dungeon with the same question.
Every evening he left with the same fury burning beneath his skin, and every night Chaos became more difficult to contain, whispering the same word over and over again inside his mind until ever Caleb could no longer distinguish where his own desperation ended and his beast’s instinct began.
“Where is our mate? Our pup?”
For days, Rhys and Nick had endured the questioning without giving him anything useful, sometimes laughing, sometimes provoking him, sometimes simply staring at him with the infuriating confidence of men who believed they possessed a secret powerful enough to protect them from the Crown Prince himself.
But eventually, something changed.
On the seventh day, when Caleb entered the dungeon again, and after another round of torture he immediately noticed it.
Rhys wasn’t laughing anymore.
The older wolf sat against the stone wall with his head lowered, his face drawn from exhaustion, and for the first time since Caleb had begun questioning him, there was no arrogance in his eyes.
Nick noticed it too.
And the moment he did, his expression hardened.
“Don’t,” Nick warned.
Rhys slowly lifted his head.
Caleb stopped.
“Don’t what?”
Rhys looked at him for several seconds before releasing a long, exhausted breath.
“We don’t know where she is.”
The words seemed almost too simple.
Caleb stared at him.
Unexpected Confession
“What?”
“Lsaid we don’t know where Iva is.”
Nick’s head snapped toward him.
“You idiot.”
Rhys ignored him.
“She left.”
Caleb’s entire body became unnaturally still.
“Left where?”
“Us.”
A strange silence settled over the dungeon.
Caleb’s mind struggled to process the answer.
“You expect me to believe she simply walked away?”
“She did.”
Caleb’s heart began pounding.
“Why?”
Rhys looked away.
“I don’t know.”
Caleb stepped closer.
“Where did she go?”
“We don’t know.”
“Who helped her?”
“No one.”
“Which pack?”
“I don’t know.”
“Which city?”
“I don’t know.”

Unexpected Confession
Caleb’s voice dropped dangerously low.
“Then what exactly do you know?”
Rhys closed his eyes..
“That she wanted nothing to do with us anymore.”
Caleb froze.
Something inside his chest twisted painfully.
If Iva had left them… truly left them…
Then why hadn’t she returned?
Why hadn’t she gone to the castle?
Why hadn’t she contacted Lori?
Why hadn’t she contacted Attia?
Why hadn’t she called her mother?
Why hadn’t she contacted him?
His mind began racing through every possibility, each one worse than the last.
Unless she had never intended to return.
Unless she had been running from everyone.
Including him.
Caleb’s expression tightened.
The thought struck Caleb harder than he expected.
Chaos recoiled inside him.
“Mate is running away from us?”
Caleb swallowed.
“You are lying! She would have contacted someone,
Nick suddenly laughed.
It began as a quiet chuckle.
Then it grew.

And grew.
Until the sound became something almost hysterical.
Caleb slowly turned toward him.
Nick was laughing so hard that his shoulders shook.
“What’s so funny?”
Nick looked up.
“You.”
Caleb’s eyes narrowed.
“You think this is amusing?”
“You still don’t understand.”
Nick’s laughter became quieter, but the smile remained.
“Even if you find her, it won’t matter.”
Caleb’s stomach dropped.
“What does that mean?”

Nick leaned his head against the stone, exhausted, realising that this is the end of the road for him.
“It means you have already lost.”
Caleb stepped toward him.
“Explain.”
Nick’s smile widened.
“Let’s just say…”
He paused deliberately.
“…I made sure that you are the person she hates most in this world.”
Everything stopped.
For one terrible second, Caleb couldn’t breathe.
“You’re lying.”
“Am I?”
Unexpected Confession
Caleb looked toward Rhys.
The older man’s face had changed.
There was guilt there.
But no denial.
Caleb’s blood ran cold.
“You did something to her.”
Rhys said nothing.
“What did you do?”
Still nothing.
Caleb’s voice cracked with fury.
“What did you tell her?”
Nick laughed again.
“Enough.”
“What?”
“Énough to make sure she would never look at you the same way.”
Caleb’s fists clenched.
“You are bluffing.”
Nick’s eyes remained fixed on his.
“Am I?”
Caleb looked between the two men.
And suddenly, he understood.
They weren’t bluffing.

For the first time since this nightmare had begun, their confidence wasn’t based on knowing where
Iva was.
It was based on knowing something Caleb didn’t.
Something about her.

Something about what had happened before she disappeared.
Something that had been deliberately twisted against him.
His breathing became heavier.
“What did you tell her?”
Nick remained silent.
“WHAT DID YOU TELL HER?”
The dungeon shook beneath the force of Caleb’s aura.
Rhys flinched.
Nick didn’t.
He simply smiled.
That was the final mistake.
Something inside Caleb broke.
Chaos surged forward with such overwhelming force that Caleb barely had time to resist.
Caleb’s vision blurred.
He tried to regain control, he truly did.
For one final second, he remembered his father’s warning.
Think.
Don’t lose yourself.
But then another thought surfaced.
Iva alone.
Iva frightened.
Iva avoiding to contact him!
And Chaos answered that thought with a roar.
The restraints snapped.
Nick’s smile finally disappeared.
Caleb moved.

What followed happened too quickly for either prisoner to comprehend, because the Crown Prince was no longer fighting as a man who wanted information, nor as a prince seeking justice, but as an enraged Lycan-whose most primitive instincts had completely overwhelmed his reason.
There was a roar.
A violent impact.
Stone cracked.
Metal screamed.
Rhys tried to speak, but the words never came.
Nick attempted to retreat, but there was nowhere to go.
Caleb’s control was gone.
Completely.
By the time William reached the dungeon after sensing the explosion of his son’s aura, the chamber had fallen silent.
Too silent.
The king stopped at the doorway.
His expression changed.
Caleb stood in the center of the room, breathing heavily, his clothes torn and his hands trembling,
while the remains of the confrontation were scattered across the stone floor.
For several seconds, William said nothing.
Caleb slowly lifted his head.
His eyes were still those of the beast.
“Father…”
William stared at him.
Caleb looked around the room as if only now realizing what he had done.
“They knew.”
His voice was broken.
“They knew something about her.”

William approached carefully.
“What happened?”
Caleb shook his head.
“I lost control.”
William’s expression hardened.
“Caleb.”
“They told me she is avoiding me.”
The king stopped.
Caleb’s voice became almost painfully quiet.
“They said they made sure I became the person she hates most.”
William looked at his son.

And for the first time, the fury in Caleb’s eyes wasn’t directed at the men who had provoked him.
It was directed at himself.
Because somewhere beyond those walls, Iva was still missing and he failed to find her.
Caleb closed his eyes.
Chaos had gone silent.
And somehow, that silence frightened him more than the rage ever had.
Because for the first time since he had found his mate, he understood the possibility that terrified him above everything else.
He could find Iva.
He could cross kingdoms.
He could tear apart every secret society, every pack, every territory that stood between them.
But what if, when he finally found her…
She looked at him with hatred?
What if the woman he had spent days desperately trying to save no longer wanted to be saved by
him?
Caleb opened his eyes.

“Find her.”
William stared at him.
“Caleb-”
“Find her.”
His voice was no longer feral.
It was cold.
Determined.
Broken.
“I don’t care how long it takes.”
He looked toward the dark corridor beyond the dungeon.
“I will find her.”
