The moment the chamber door closed behind him, Caleb stood perfectly still in the corridor, his hand remaining against the wood as though some invisible force were keeping him connected to the room on the other side.

For several long seconds, he did not move, breathe, or even allow himself to think, because the moment he did, everything he had been holding inside for far too long threatened to tear through the carefully constructed control that had kept him standing.

His son.

His little boy.

Youssef.

Caleb slowly lowered his hand from the door, staring at his fingers as though they belonged to someone else, because only moments ago those hands had finally touched the child he had dreamed about, searched for, and mourned without ever knowing whether he would actually live long enough to hold him.

He could still feel the tiny weight of Youssef against his chest.

He could still remember the warmth of that little body beneath his arms, the softness of the child’s hair against his hand, and the way Youssef had looked up at him with innocent curiosity before giving him that dazzling little smile that had shattered something inside Caleb that centuries of Lycan strength could never have protected.

Caleb swallowed hard.

Then another breath escaped him, uneven and broken.

He turned away from the chamber and walked several steps down the corridor, his movements controlled only because years of being raised as a royal had taught him never to display weakness in front of anyone

But there was nobody around now.

The corridor was empty.

The guards stood far enough away to give their future king privacy, and the servants who had witnessed his arrival had wisely disappeared into other parts of the castle.

Caleb reached the nearest stone pillar and placed one hand against it.

His head lowered.

And finally, he broke.

A strangled sound escaped his throat before he could stop it, and Caleb covered his mouth with his hand as his shoulders began to shake violently beneath the weight of everything he had refused to feel

He had imagined this moment so many times.

He had imagined holding his son while laughing.

<Emotional Breakdown-

He had imagined Youssef wrapping tiny fingers around his thumb.

He had imagined introducing him to King William, imagining his father’s pride when he saw another Adama heir.

Clown

He had imagined Eva beside him, watching them together with that beautiful smile he remembered so clearly.

He had imagined a family.

Instead, the first time he held his son, the mother of his child had looked at him as though he were a

monster.

Caleb squeezed his eyes shut.

“No.”

The word came out broken.

He leaned his forehead against the cold stone, fighting desperately to regain control, but the tears had already begun falling, slipping silently down his face before dropping onto the polished floor beneath him.

He did not wipe them away.

For once, Caleb Adama did not care who saw him.

He had spent months searching.

He had followed every rumour, every trace, every possible lead, crossing territories and challenging enemies while refusing to accept the possibility that Iva might be gone forever.

And when he finally found her, she had looked into his eyes and called him her captor.

His chest tightened painfully.

“She doesn’t remember me.”

The realization was almost unbearable when spoken aloud.

Caleb’s fingers curled against the stone until his knuckles whitened, because knowing that Iva had los memories was one thing, but seeing the terror in her eyes when he approached her was something entirely

different.

She had not looked at him with anger.

She had looked at him with fear.

Fear of him.

The woman he loved more than anything in this world believed he had hurt her.

And perhaps that was what destroyed him most.

Because Caleb could tolerate hatred.

Emotional Breakdown

He could tolerate anger.

But he could not tolerate being the person she believed she needed protection from.

His breathing became heavier as another wave of emotion crashed over him.

Then his thoughts returned to Youssef.

Caleb lifted his trembling hand and stared at it again.

That tiny hand had curled around one of his fingers.

Such a small thing.

Yet it had felt like the entire universe had stopped.

He had known immediately.

There had been no test, no explanation, no supernatural confirmation required.

The moment he had held his son, Chaos had recognized the child completely.

Mine.

Caleb pressed his palm against his chest.

“He smiled at me.”

His voice cracked.

A broken laugh escaped him through the tears.

“He actually smiled at me.”

Caleb slowly slid down the pillar until he was sitting on the cold floor, his head bowed betw

For the first time since becoming the strongest warrior in the Lycan kingdom, he felt comple powerless.

He could defeat an army.

He could command thousands.

He could make entire packs bow with a single word.

But he could not command Iva’s memories to return.

He could not order her heart to recognize him.

He wiped his face roughly and forced himself to stand.

He was still crying when he looked back toward Iva’s chamber.

Claire

‘I found you,” he whispered, his voice barely audible beneath the silence of the royal corridor “I found both of you.”

<Emotional Breakdown

His jaw tightened as determination slowly replaced the devastation in his eyes.

“And I swear, Iva, I will make you remember.”

He paused, staring at the closed door.

“Not because I need you to remember me.”

His expression softened. /

“But because one day, I want you to remember how much I loved you.”

Caleb turned away from the chamber, unaware that somewhere inside that room, Iva was still staring at the place where he had disappeared, one hand resting protectively over Youssef while her heart struggled to understand why watching his father walk away had left her feeling strangely empty.

She should have been terrified.

That was what made sense.

He was the man in charge.

The man she believed had once held her captive.

The man who, according to her family and mate, had been someone she should fear.

Yet somehow, standing inside this enormous chamber with her son safely against her chest, Eva realized something that frightened her far more than the Lycans themselves.

She did not feel afraid.

Confused?

Yes.

Overwhelmed?

Completely.

Suspicious?

Absolutely.

7

But terrified?

No.

Not anymore.

Her gaze slowly travelled across the enormous room, taking in the high ceilings, the elegant furniture, the heavy curtains, the polished wooden floor, and the large bed that looked more comfortable than anything she could remember sleeping in.

There were no chains.

No restraints.

Emotional Breakdown

Ne locked metal door.

No windows covered with bars.

No guards standing inside the room watching her every movement.

Nothing.

Eva frowned.

If Caleb truly wanted her trapped, why was she standing in a room like this?

She slowly walked toward the door and stared at it.

She reached for the handle.

Her fingers hesitated before closing around the cool metal.

She turned it.

The door opened.

Eva froze.

Her heart began beating faster.

She looked into the corridor.

Empty.

Nobody stopped her.

Nobody shouted.

Nobody demanded that she return inside.

Nobody even seemed to care that she had opened the door.

Eva slowly closed it again.

“What is happening?”

7

Her whispered question disappeared into the enormous room.
