The Officer's Runaway Wife & Secret Son novel Chapter 247

By the end of September, Emily called again.

She and Daniel were getting married.

The date was set for October 2nd in Brighton City.

Daniel, who usually looked like the stoic, ascetic type, had really gone all out with the proposal.

Earlier in the year, at the law firm’s annual party, he had had a few too many drinks and suddenly pulled a stack of legal documents out of his bag.

At the time, everyone at the firm thought he was about to read out a layoff list.

Instead, the man dropped to his knees with a thud, held up the papers to Emily, and announced, “This is the prenuptial agreement I’ve drafted. Party A: Daniel. Party B: Emily. All movable assets, real estate, stocks, funds, and future earnings under Party A’s name belong entirely to Party B. Any debts or risks shall be borne solely by Party A.”

“If Party B has no objections to the terms, please sign on this diamond ring... I mean, please wear this diamond ring.”

Clara laughed as she listened. “Did he really say that?”

“Would I lie?” Emily huffed. “If he ever dares to threaten a breakup, I’ll own him—body and bank account.”

Hanging up the phone, Simon burst into laughter. “She’s really getting married this time.”

After laughing, he turned to Clara, his expression turning serious.

“If you don’t want to go, we won’t go. As long as the gift arrives, Emily will understand. If she knew you were uncomfortable, she’d probably move the wedding to Heron Bay just to accommodate you.”

“I definitely have to go,” Clara said. “When I got divorced, she was the one who went with me to finalize the papers. How could I miss the most important moment of her life?”

“You should go, but...” Clara’s mother came out of the kitchen with a plate of cut fruit, looking hesitant. “What about Felix? Are you taking Felix back with you?”

Everyone looked over.

Felix was kneeling on the carpet, head down, assembling a Lego spaceship. Noah sat beside him, holding the instruction manual and occasionally pointing something out.

In Heron Bay, no one knew Rhys. Everyone just praised the child for growing up well, being smart and beautiful, inheriting all his parents' strengths.

But once they returned to Brighton City, it would be different.

Clara’s father whispered, “Felix can’t go back. What if they see him and try to take the child? How could we fight them?”

Clara frowned.
