Ben and I went to the mess hall and all the other Hunters were looking at us weirdly. Mostly Ben and that’s probably because he came to this base with the other two. If they’ve been outed at wolves then they might think that Ben is as well.
He had to be really careful not to show his wolf side or any of their special powers, because otherwise, he would be dead as well.
Or he’d be in the cells with Morgan and who knows who else.
“What else did you see in the office?” Ben asked as we sat down.
“They’ve got a room full of kids. They’re going to train those kids to kill wolves as well. The women that are taking care of the kids are the same women that took care of me.” I explained.
“There’s someone else that we can talk to. But it’s too dangerous right now. We need to find a way to get out of here so we can go and see him.” Ben said.
“Who is he?” I asked.
“Your brother. He’s the one in charge now if Morgan and Ezra have been caught.” Ben said.
“I didn’t see Ezra.”
“Believe me, if they have Morgan then they have Ezra. They only showed you Morgan because she’s your mother. They thought that would be enough to rattle you if you already knew.”
“Chyler told me not to. To pretend like we never met.”
“Who’s Chyler?” Ben asked, confused.
“My wolf. I think. She just started talking to me. In my head.”
“Yeah. That’s your wolf and she is there to do everything in your best interest. Think of her as your best friend. Because she won’t let anything happen to you.” Ben explained. And I nodded my head.
I told him about the whole set up and how that’s how they caught Jesse and Eric and how they managed to attack another pack last night. Which meant, they were going to have a lot of trouble trying to keep packs safe now.
“Yeah. It looks like they are finally finding all the packs without Jesse or Eric being able to tip them off.” Ben said.
I stood there staring at those people who were being herded into the prison building and I couldn’t help but notice how human they looked.
I mean, they didn’t look like animals at all. Not like I was meant to believe.
Women were crying over their children that had been taken away from them, men were protective of their wives or mates or whatever they were.
“Why the hell can’t they just hunt vampires instead. Werewolves never did anything to hurt humans. Vampires are the ones that kill humans for the fun of it.” Ben said.
“Don’t they kill humans to feed?” I asked.
“Some do. Some just like to kill. Luna Morgan was friends with some vampires a while ago. They were killed in an explosion in the middle of the day. That was the distraction that the Hunters used when they kidnapped you.” Ben explained.
