I started reading the most important parts of that book before anything else. I just needed to understand the most important bits and after that I would let Ben fill me in.
I couldn’t be seen reading this book so I put it back as quickly as possible and we left the library.
We were walking across the base trying to figure out what to do when Justin approached us.
“Gear up you two. We know where all those abandoned packs went after they evacuated their own packs.” Justin said.
“Where?” I asked.
“Just get ready. We leave in 30.” He said, turning and heading to the officer’s dorms.
Ben and I went to our bunk house and geared up for a mission that we had no idea about. But there were a lot of other people in there as well getting ready.
We headed out to the helicopter pad and we saw all of our Hunters and several new people that just arrived today waiting.
Justin came and split us up into different groups to go on different choppers and he was sure to separate me from Ben.
I wasn’t surprised by that at all.
“Lilly. Can you hear me?” Ben’s voice flitted through my mind.
“How do you do that?” I asked.
“We’re part of the same pack so we can mind link with each other. You were never unofficially severed from our pack when you were kidnapped. That’s why you’re still a member of our pack and we can mind link with each other.” He explained.
“Do you know where we’re going?” I asked.
“No. They haven’t said shit. I don’t think they trust us.” He said.
“Yeah. That’s pretty obvious.” I said.
I started getting goosebumps up my arms as we were in the air for a long time and I was trying to make out where we were going.
At first it seemed like the chopper had done a couple of laps around the area before we set off in one direction and then went in a different direction.
I couldn’t make any sense of where he was going. But I could hear him talking to someone on his radio. So he was just taking orders from whoever was on the ground.
My guess was Stevens.
Once he seemed to set a proper course then it was a much smoother flight.
No one on the chopper was talking and Ben had warned me that if we got too far away from each other then we wouldn’t be able to mind link with each other anymore.
He didn’t want me to worry if I couldn’t get in touch with him. But I just told him to contact me if he heard anything new. But so far, it was radio silence.
We had been in the air for a couple of hours when I realized that the area was starting to look familiar to me.
