I stood there looking between Ben and this other man standing in front of us. Someone that I knew to be a vampire, but I also knew the name. I’d heard of that name. They’d just recently told me about this vampire.
“You’re dead.” I said.
“That’s what they wanted everyone to think. They staged the whole thing when they found out that they were going to be attacked.” Ben explained.
“If you knew of the attack then why would Morgan leave me alone at the house to get kidnapped?” I asked.
“Morgan didn’t know. Not straight away. I stayed hidden for a couple of years before I went to go and see your mother. I knew that she’d freak out and she did, but she understood why we didn’t tell her.” Corey said.
“They’ve got Morgan now. She’s in the cell at the base. They’ve probably got Ezra as well but I can’t be sure of that.” I said.
“Don’t worry about Morgan and Ezra. We need to worry about getting you out of here. That’s why Corey is here.” Ben explained.
“Come on.” Corey said.
So we started walking through the forest, away from the Midnight pack and I couldn’t help but look over at the pack.
Ben held my hand as we were sneaking through the forest and hoping that Justin didn’t realize that we were gone.
“Stop panicking. They aren’t going to find us.” Ben said.
“Justin will notice that I’m not there.” I said.
“And we’ve got you covered.” Corey said, pointing upwards.
So I looked up and in the cover of the trees and leaves and the darkness, I could barely make out people scattered out in the trees.
“They’re keeping watch. They aren’t going to let anyone follow us or get too close.” Ben said.
I nodded my head, shocked for a moment before we started walking again.
“I can’t believe how much you look like Morgan.” Corey said.
“I can’t believe I’m walking alone through the forest with a werewolf and a vampire.” I said. And they both chuckled.
“She was raised to hate us. And kill us.” Ben said.
“I heard. She’s a Hunter. Well, your instincts will take over shortly. You’ve already shifted so the wolf in you will take over. And you’ll be more protective of your wolf family than the Hunters.” Corey explained.
I wasn’t sure how long we had been walking for but it seemed to go on for a long time before we finally got to a cabin in the woods.
The first thing I thought of was how this place looked like it was pulled right out of a horror movie.
But Corey opened the door and I walked inside with Ben and we were greeted by more vampires that had smiles on their faces.
I guess they were expecting me.
“I’m guessing you’re all friends with my mother?” I asked.
“Yeah. She was always really good to us. We don’t feed on humans, so she treated us like people.” One guy said.
“She sounds pretty amazing…How the hell are we going to get her out of the base?” I asked. But Ben looked at me strangely before he looked over at Corey.
“Did you really think Morgan and Ezra would let themselves get captured and not have a plan to get themselves out?” Corey asked.
“Yeah. He seemed alright. You know my parents as well?” I asked. But she looked out the window like she was staring off into space.
“Yeah. I know him. Haven’t seen him for a long time.” She said, barely talking to me. It seemed like she was talking to herself more than me.
I was a little worried about her demeanor and how upset she looked as she was sitting there staring out the window into the forest.
But Holly started making me something to eat and we sat at the table talking.
I saw Ben standing towards the doorway, making sure that he could see me while he was talking to all the other vampires in the living room.
But it wasn’t long before Bonnie got up and walked out the back door.
Corey came in for a moment and saw that Bonnie was gone and then he shook his head as he was walking back into the living room.
“What’s that about?” I asked.
“It’s a long story. Going back way before you were born.” Holly said.
“I don’t doubt that.” I said.
“Bonnie rejected your father. Morgan was Ezra’s second chance mate. And now that she’s become a vampire, by choice, she’s realizing that it’s not all it’s cracked up to be.” Holly explained.
“So, the only reason why Morgan and Ezra are together is because she rejected Ezra?” I asked.
“Yeah.”
“Well, get over it. Those are my parents. If it wasn’t for her rejecting Ezra then I wouldn’t be here. So she can live with the choices that she made. Just like the rest of us.” I snapped. Catching Holly off guard and even Ben turned around and looked at me a little strangely.
