Chapter 21
As I was caught under Logan’s body I wrapped my legs around his waist and he started kissing along my jawline and down my neck, coaxing a little moan out of me.
“Logan.” A high pitch screech echoed down the hall, making us both jump.
“Shit. It’s Penelope.” Logan said, sitting up on the couch again.
“Yeah. Her voice is hard to ignore.” I said.
“I’m sorry.” He said, getting up and looking around the room.
“If you ask me to jump out the window, I will rip your nuts off.” I said. And he looked at me with what I thought
was amusement.
“I’ll get her to the office. You can sneak out the front door.” He said.
So I waited in the library until he mind linked me and told me that it was all clear. So I grabbed the book that I was reading and I left the packhouse.
As I was walking home I could practically feel Bella crying in my head. She was whimpering and wanting to go back and claw Penelope’s eyes out.
I had to try and control her and calm her down. Because she was giving me a headache.
“Doesn’t it bother you?” Bella asked.
“Should it?” I asked.
“Yeah. Your mate just made us sneak out of the house because his girlfriend showed up.” Bella said.
“Please. Don’t make this any harder than it has to be.”
“Why don’t you care?” She asked.

“Don’t tell me how to feel? I stopped feeling a long time ago. Remember.” I said.
“I remember. You’re dead inside.” She said.
“Exactly.” I said, going inside the trailer and slamming the door.
I dropped the book on the table and I got changed and went for my usual exercise routine. Except this time, I went for twice as long. Two laps of the territory and two hours on the exercise equipment.
By the time I went back inside, it was already dark. So I had a shower and I got dressed for bed.
I made dinner and I put my mother’s in the oven to keep it warm while I ate mine as I was still reading through that book.
I was interested to see if we had a treaty with a vampire clan. Because that is completely unheard of. Werewolves and vampires don’t associate with each other for the very reason that we are supposed to be mortal enemies.
We’re meant to keep humans safe from vampires, which is why they don’t kill the way they used to. They keep it very privately now.
We understand that they need to feed to stay alive, but they used to be out of control. Killing people just for the hell of it. Until the werewolf council got involved and werewolves started wiping them out.

So now, they just stick to killing when hungry and they can usually make it look like an animal attack. Nothing out of the ordinary. Nothing suspicious.
If a wolf pack is near a human town that has a large number of human fatalities then that wolf pack is asked to investigate. But otherwise, we never see any vampires.
I’ve always been interested in vampires though. I’ve always wanted to meet one. I don’t know why. They’ve just always intrigued me.
Not that I could ever admit that to anyone I know. They would think I was weird and a freak. Not that they don’t already, but this would make it worse.
“Logan would probably be forced to execute me.
I was surprised at how far back the history of our pack went. The book started in the 1500’s. That’s when they started documenting everything that happened within the pack. Anything that was noteworthy.
I looked outside and saw Ace standing outside again, in the snow and the cold. So I opened the window.
“How long are you meant to be watching me for?” I asked.
“Until the Alpha tells me to stop.” He said.
“Get inside.” I said, closing the window before he could protest.
He came around the front of the trailer and came inside and I made him a coffee to warm him up.
