“Now I understand why you ran away from your old Alpha. He probably wanted you dead.” Jennifer said.

“Oh. You have no idea.” I scoffed.

Ezra and Nathan both looked at me when I said that. I guess they were expecting me to get upset or pissed off at the mention of Logan wanting to kill me. But I didn’t. I wasn’t going to give them any information to use against

When dinner was over Maddy came and got me and she pulled me onto the dance floor while the band was going at it and I started dancing around with her and her friends.

I was actually having a pretty fun time tonight. That’s not usual. I don’t have fun. Ever.

I was starting to get the feeling that I was really going to love it here.

Maddy kept trying to get me a glass of champagne, but I told her that I couldn’t drink it. I told her that I was just a cheap drunk and I didn’t want to make a fool of myself tonight. I can’t make a fool of myself tonight.

She said that she understood that, so I just kept drinking water.

Usually, I would be able to drink all of these guys under the table. I’ve had plenty of practice at binge drinking. Especially after several attacks from classmates at school where I got injured and alcohol would dull the pain until the injury healed itself.

Maddy and her friends all seemed pretty cool. They were my age or older. Only by a couple of years. Some of them were working and some were going to college.

It actually made me feel better that I was going to know some people on campus.

I saw that other girl come back who had been fighting with Ezra earlier

“Maddy. Who’s she?” I asked.

“That’s the one I was telling you about. That’s Alpha Ezra’s ex-girlfriend Katherine. She’s a real piece of work. And since you’re living with him, you better watch your back.” She said.

“Thanks. I’ll keep that in mind. How many friends does she have?” I asked.

“A couple. Not many. She usually drives them away.” Maddy explained.

“Good. A couple I can work with.” I said.

Katherine stood off to the side of the dance floor, her eyes fixed on me. And if looks could kill, I would be a pile of ash by now.

She was soon joined by a few other girls that were dressed almost identically to her, only in different colors. Their makeup was perfect, tight dresses, like they were looking for someone to hook up with tonight. And I was assuming that Katherine was hoping to get into Ezra’s bed tonight.

I looked over at Ezra and he had spotted her standing there. But he was talking to a bunch of other guys and

The party lasted into the night and early the next morning.

I finally said goodnight to the last of our guests and I headed up to my bedroom.

When I got to the fourth floor I realized that my bedroom door was open with the light on. But I was sure that I had closed it when we left.

I slowly approached the door and I heard someone rustling around in there. So I slammed the door open and surprised the person inside, only to find that it was Owen. Ezra’s father and the former Alpha.

“What the fuck are you doing in here?” I yelled.
