I watch as Nikki and Sophie walk arm in arm back to the tables where they are tracking the battles with the other Lunas falling into step beside them.

“It’s good that our mates are so close,” Hunter says.

“It really is,” I say, smiling after my mate as Kayce and Ezra agree.

As the second day of competition wears on, I’m able to watch more of the matches. Robin still has to referee, and I definitely take some time to watch my mate be the incredible, strong, sexy, Alpha he is.

No one is surprised that it’s the three Betas who are in this competition that have made it to the final three. Hunter and Dutton’s Betas didn’t compete for this pack, both of them wanting my brother’s old pack. I’d be fine either way. They’re both better men and will make better Alphas than my brother ever did.

When it’s time for the final competition, they draw straws since there are three contestants left. I’m excited that Reese isn’t in the first round of competition. It gives me some time to rest, although I’m so nervous that I can hardly stand it.

Now that my good friend Letti is mated to Beta Jake, Ezra’s Beta, I want her to become a Luna so she can join our Luna group, but I also – want Reese to win. He deserves this and it would be great to have him

so close to our pack.

By the time Jake and Reese begin their competition, I feel like a nervous wreck. Robin even comes up behind me, wrapping his arms around me and holding me as we watch.

competition and encouraging Reese while still somehow maintaining our conversation about our pup.

“Yes,” he growls, making me chuckle.

“Thursday,” I tell him and lean against him as we both refocus on the battle.

It’s a tough, hard–won battle, but in the end, Jake wins. It’s hard to be upset because Letti will now become a Luna, and it was a really good, really tough battle.

Everyone is excited and even though I can tell that Reese is

disappointed, he’s proud of how well he did. Both Robin and I reinforce how proud we are of him, knowing that this was important to him.

“Which pack is the next closest?” Reese asks.
