Separating from Holly Huntington, Stella Channing headed straight back to the Channing estate.
As soon as she walked through the door, she saw her step-mother, Beatrice Channing, sitting on the sofa looking like absolute royalty.
Ivy Sloane sat beside her, wiping away tears of grievance.
She didn't forget to play the victim. "It's really not Stella's fault. It's all my fault. Blame me..."
Right, this Ivy was the daughter of Beatrice's older sister. Both sisters had a knack for homewrecking, but Beatrice was the one who managed to secure the ring.
As for her older sister...
She ran out of luck and died giving birth to Ivy.
Whether she actually died in childbirth was heavily debated. Rumor had it that the legitimate Mrs. Sloane had a hand in it!
Beatrice coaxed her affectionately. "We'll wait for her to come back and ask her about it."
Vincent Channing was also there. Seeing Stella appear, he froze for a moment at the sight of her haute couture!
Noticing something was off, Beatrice followed Vincent's gaze.
When she saw Stella radiating an intimidating aura, her expression stiffened uncontrollably.
The oversized black t-shirt she wore earlier had been replaced by an exquisite designer outfit.
For a split second, she saw the shadow of the girl from three years ago in Stella.
But she quickly recovered, forcing a smile. "Stella, you're back. Your dad has been waiting for you."
Stella didn't even spare her a glance.
Vincent had been suppressing his rage. Now, seeing Stella show zero respect for Beatrice...
Furious, he grabbed his coffee mug and hurled it straight at her.
Stella took a slight step back. The mug shattered with a loud crash right in front of her.
Seeing her dodge, Vincent's anger flared even hotter. "You dare dodge!"
"What are you doing? Talk to her properly. It might just be a misunderstanding. Ivy must have upset Stella, otherwise, she wouldn't have resorted to hitting anyone."
Beatrice always loved playing the saint.
Her words sounded gentle, but they were expertly crafted to strike a nerve.
Especially the word 'hitting'—it pushed Vincent over the edge.
His fury burned brighter. "Why should I talk to her properly?"
"Look at what she's done! She's out of her mind. Causing a scene at Sinclair Manor is one thing, but she even hit Vivienne!"
Vincent already knew everything that had transpired today.
The Sinclairs used to be beneath the Channings, but now, the Channings relied on them for everything.
Recalling the scathing phone call he just received from the Sinclair family, Vincent wanted nothing more than to strangle Stella.
